How to insulate a bath so that the heat does not come out, and the materials are safe: instructions

A good heater for a bath meets two requirements - it does not emit toxic substances and copes with keeping heat. Basalt insulation, expanded clay, mineral wool are suitable for warming the steam room.

The use of Styrofoam, Foam Glass and XPS Boards should be handled with caution due to their flammability and tendency to warp.

Walls

The walls in the bath are insulated in the same way, regardless of the building materials - brick or wood. Only the thickness of the thermal insulation layer is corrected: a thicker layer is needed for wood due to its low thermal conductivity. The walls are insulated like this:

1. Treat the walls with an antiseptic to protect against mold and mildew.

2. Attach captive hydro-vapor barrier.

3. Install the lathing (the step depends on the thickness of the material).

4. Lay the insulation in the gaps between the battens.

5. Install a vapor barrier.

6. Nail in counter lattice to create ventilation gap.

7. Lay the cladding material (boards or lining).

For brick walls, the recommended lathing pitch is 60 centimeters.

The thickness of the guides is usually 1 meter (this distance is optimal for slag in mats).

For log walls, it is recommended to use basalt mineral wool 5-8 centimeters thick. To fix the material, fasteners with wide caps are used, recessed into the insulation.

Floor

Floor insulation methods depend on the type of coating - it can be wood or concrete. Consider the procedure for laying and insulating a wooden floor:

1. Bring a drain pipe to the bath and place a drain (usually it is led out into the middle of the room).

2. Cover the compacted soil with a layer of roofing material (the material rises to the walls by 2 centimeters).

3. Lay the floor beams on the protruding section of the foundation, protected with roofing felt.

4. Screw the cranial bars onto the lower sections of the floor beams (subsequently, the subfloor is laid on them).

5. Cover the rough boards with a vapor-proof foil and lay a layer of insulation (mineral wool or expanded clay).

6. Cover the insulation with a second layer of foil for additional vapor barrier.

7. Install the joists perpendicular to the floor beams and lay a wooden flooring on them. Leave a hole for the drain pipe in the center.

8. Nail the slats on the deck (after cutting them off at an angle of 5 degrees in the direction of the drain. The slats will serve as a crate when laying wooden floors.

9. Lay the insulation with the foil side up between the sheathing bars and fasten them with foil tape.

10. Lay a clean wooden floor protected from leaks on the foil insulation.

Ceiling

The ceiling insulation scheme is selected on the basis of its structure: panel, hem and floor ceilings are distinguished. Each provides its own characteristics of laying insulation. Consider one of the most common options - hemming:

1. Take the attic floor beams as a frame (stacked in 60 centimeters increments).

2. Place a waterproofing layer on the beams from the attic side (the layer should cover the entire ceiling space).

3. Fasten the wooden flooring to the waterproofing (also from the attic).

4. Lay the insulation between the floor beams.

5. Close the insulation with a vapor barrier or foil material (attached to the floor beams).

6. Sheathe the ceiling with wooden clapboard.
