Very soon our sad sleeping space near the house will come to life and turn into a real fairy tale. But for this it is necessary to correctly "wake up" the main characters - including the climbing rose.
This empress, as befits her status, loves special attention.
Step # 1 Too good is not good either
Roses, even after wintering safely in frosts, can die in spring - and not from frost, but, on the contrary, from excessive heat and excessive humidity. It is imperative to let them breathe in time.
With the onset of the first truly warm days, it is necessary to gradually open the pink lashes for the day, closing again at sunset (spring frosts, however, can destroy the plants).
Then, when the roses "sighed", I open them on both sides so that fresh air "walks" under the shelter. I continue to close tightly at night.
And with the onset of constant heat (15 degrees) it will be possible to completely remove the "outerwear".
Step # 2 Reliable "shoulder" nearby
Rose, like any “real woman”, needs a reliable shoulder next to her to feel good. In her case, a trellis. But there is no need to rush to get attached to it - it is important to wait for the appearance of buds on the shoots of the second order. If you tie a rose without waiting for this moment, it may simply not bloom.
At the same time, delay is also dangerous - if the lashes are not fixed in time, they will not be able to grow fully further, because antennae and "holds" for independent "binding" to the support in their delicate design are not provided.
Step number 3 Healthy beauty
Frozen tips, moldy parts of the stems, lashes with tears in the bark - all this must be cut off to healthy tissue.
Otherwise, these ugly fragments can not only spoil the aesthetic appearance of the royal flower, but also become the source of its disease. By removing damage, you protect the plant from potential infections and make way for young, healthy shoots.
Step # 4 Serve to eat!
Beauty cannot be hungry. A plant weakened after winter needs to recuperate with the help of fertilizing. At this time, rose bushes are especially in need of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium.
You can also limit yourself to organic fertilizer. I prefer when "cheap and cheerful" - rotted manure (a bucket under each bush).
Important! Before starting feeding, it is necessary to remove the top layer of mulch from the roots, and immediately after "breakfast" - abundantly "give" the rose water.
Step # 5 White enemy
In the spring, when the shelter is completely removed, you may notice areas with white mold on the lashes. Do not panic - this does not mean the imminent death of the plant, as many pessimists believe. To eliminate mold, it is enough to simply treat the plant with copper-containing preparations. For this I use the simplest and most proven - Bordeaux mixture. Also "Trichodermin" or "Fitosporin-M" are suitable.
My Little Trick
If you are an observant gardener, you probably noticed that the more lashes a rose grows horizontally, the more actively it blooms. I "model" this situation myself: I pull the vertical branches down while forming a bush. Having taken a horizontal position, they form additional flowering buds!
Lovely hostesses! Blooming beauty to you - in the garden and in the heart! Be as beautiful as your roses - savor and delight others! Health, reliable shoulders and “little tricks” for great happiness!
