Several varieties of these amazing plants grow in my garden, from the simplest ones, like lights, to luxurious royal lilies. They resemble the fluttering of exotic butterflies - graceful, slender and tall, crowned with many huge inflorescences.
It took me more than one year to achieve lush and long flowering. A few years ago, a neighbor at the dacha told me the secrets. Lilies, like all plants, need care: timely feeding, regular watering, loosening, weed removal.
One of the secrets of a neighbor of obtaining large buds, and subsequently bulbs, is to remove pistils and stamens from a flowering plant. As she says, flowering in this case lasts a long period.
Well I do not know... this is her only advice that I have not followed until now. Somehow I doubt its expediency. But all the rest of her recommendations I follow to this day. Well, you can see the result of this yourself in the pictures :)
Lilies are not suitable for shade, and they do not feel very well in an open, sunny place. These flowers love to grow in the openwork shade of trees when they bask in the sun in the morning. They prefer loose, breathable and slightly moist soil. The rest of the magic lies only in feeding.
- After the snow melts on the flowerbed where the lilies grow, I sprinkle ammonium nitrate on 1 m2 spoon of granules or dilute 50 g of the substance in a bucket of water and water this area. The flowers receive nitrogen and move into growth, releasing their rosette.
- If you can get rotted manure or mullein, then I prefer to use this fertilizer. I dilute it 1:10 with water and treat the seedlings with this nutritious soup.
- During growth, budding and during flowering, I do not skimp on ash fertilizer. Lilies respond very well to such nutrition, because stove ash is just a storehouse of substances necessary for growth and flowering. For long flowering, lilies need phosphorus, calcium and potassium, and ash is rich in these elements. All plants absorb fertilizers better in liquid form. I dilute 1 kg of ash in 10 liters of water, let it brew for a day, mix and water the flowers at the root, without touching the leaves. If there is no time to prepare the solution, then I add ash at the foot of the stems - during watering, food will penetrate to the bulb.
- I water the lilies generously so that the moisture gets to the roots. And the bulbs sit in the ground at a depth equal to the three diameters of the bulbs. Nettle infusions have a very beneficial effect on flowering. This is nutrition and watering at the same time.
- Planting frequency affects growth, flowering and bud size. Flowers form additional bulbs from year to year, so every 3-5 years I dig them out, dry them, and in September I plant them at a free distance from each other. They get more freedom, therefore, the buds will be larger. Beauties will delight with lush and long flowering.
- Well, just recently I could not resist and made a mega-purchase of beautiful new varieties. I just got into a stunning action, in the full sense of the word, and was tempted by this :) The prices for lilies have been reduced by 2, or even 3 times. Well, how can you pass by? 😊 😊 😊 I bought here, maybe it will come in handy for you.
