The more chemistry becomes on the shelves of our grocery stores, the less you want to see it in our own products, including fruits, berries and vegetables. Therefore, for the May feeding of raspberries, I use only proven grandmother's recipes - purely harmless and natural methods.
These simple tips will help you get an enviable raspberry harvest and remember this summer as the most delicious raspberry!
In spring, the root and shoots are actively developing in raspberries, so it is especially important to help it during this period. More flowers will appear on strong shoots, and, therefore, berries.
There are many ways to naturally feed. I will share today three of the most famous of them.
First of all, raspberries need nitrogen for a bountiful harvest. It is found in abundance in chicken droppings. But using it in its "pure form" is fraught with the opposite result. Therefore, I diluted it in a strict proportion: 2 kg per 20 liters of warm water. Mixed thoroughly, left for five days.
And then I added 0.5 liters of such a solution to a 10-liter bucket of water and poured it under each bush.
Important! This top dressing is loved not only by raspberries that woke up in spring. She is very grateful for such a "dinner before bedtime" - in the fall. This allows her to painlessly survive the long winter.
Some of the gardeners replace chicken dung with cow or horse manure. They say - no less effective. But there is another cool option, but more on that later ...
Weed infusion can be an alternative source of nitrogen. Fill the barrel with weeds (without roots), fill it with water and leave to ferment in a dark place for a week. Then, in a fivefold proportion, the resulting infusion is diluted with water and watered under each bush.
In addition to nitrogen, raspberries really need potassium. The easiest way to enrich the soil under the bushes with it is wood ash. Someone dilutes it in water, insists and only then water it. In this case, I followed the easy path: I just scattered dry ash under the bushes (one glass under each), then loosened the soil and watered.
Important! The composition of artificial potash fertilizers often contains chlorine, and it is very destructive for raspberries, and certainly will not help you increase your yield!
Little secret. I remember how my grandmother in childhood sowed peas and clover under raspberry bushes. And when they began to bloom, she mowed and laid out under the bushes. It turns out that this is another method of enriching the soil with nitrogen generally recognized by old gardeners.
