All vegetable crops love when various top dressings are introduced into the soil for them. Anyone who wants to get a good cabbage crop should know when and how to feed the cabbage.
According to the rules of agricultural technology, the first top dressing should be done immediately after planting the seedlings in the ground. At this time, the seedlings begin to intensively grow greens and quickly absorb all nutrients from the soil.
At this stage, growing seedlings especially need nitrogen. Plants can obtain this element both from ready-made mineral fertilizers and from organic matter.
Experienced gardeners 20-25 days before transplanting fertilize the future cabbage patch with the following composition - humus plus wood ash. It is also useful to add a little nitrophosphate to the ground at this time.
It is advisable not to just throw fertilizer into the ground, and plan the holes on the bed and pour them with water with nitrophos at the rate of 1 tsp. l. top dressing for 1 hole.
If this procedure was carried out before transplanting seedlings, then the first real top dressing can be organized only 25-30 days after they were planted in open ground. If there was no preliminary fertilization of the soil, then it is recommended to feed the seedlings 10 days after transplanting. In any case, the first feeding should be carried out when there are at least 2 true leaves on the seedling.
On a note! The ideal weather for the first top dressing is cloudy and slightly cool. If the sun does not want to leave behind the clouds, then you can feed the small cabbage in the evening after watering.
What top dressing are considered the most effective
These dressings can be used for white cabbage, red cabbage, Peking cabbage and Savoy cabbage.
The choice of the first dressings is large, you can always choose one of the following options. Top dressing is carried out by watering 0.5 liters of top dressing for each seedling. For each option, 10 liters of settled non-cold water is needed:
- half a liter of liquid mullein;
- 30 g of urea;
- 1 matchbox of ammonium nitrate;
- 60 g superphosphate and 200 g wood ash.
Chicken droppings can be used in place of mullein. It must be filled with water at the rate of 1 part of droppings 20 parts of water. Feeding should be infused under a lid for 7-8 days. Then again dilute with water in a ratio of 1 part of the infusion to 3 parts of water.
It is not recommended to pour top dressing under the root. It is necessary to make small grooves around each seedling (at least 10 cm from the stem), and pour liquid solutions there.
All this you can safely use, and your plants will inevitably reward you with an excellent harvest. But there is a simpler and more efficient option - fertilizer Agroplant.
