Good afternoon, dear guests and subscribers of the "Build for Myself" channel!
I recently published an article that describes in detail each stage of the construction of a metal frame, despite the fact that I did it myself without involving any craftsmen. Instead of a partner, several clamps helped me with this :-)))
The metal frame of the stairs came out to me at 22,400 rubles. and 20 evenings after work (three weeks in the evenings).
Here's a link to this article: Metal staircase. DIY frame. Total cost [Many photos]
Since our town is small and the private sector predominates, you already know everyone in the district. Among the tenants, there are several peasants by profession - a welder. Just, I have repeatedly turned to them for the calculation of work on the construction of a metal frame. Prices are different for everyone: from 58,000 to 90,000 rubles.
The other day, one of them, passing by my house, looked in - to ask how my stairs were going. We talked, the hour passed unnoticed, and that's what we managed to find out ...
Firstly, since I cooked myself and held the inverter for the first time, the seams were not welded deep enough, especially the vertical and ceiling seams. He took my apparatus and in 15-20 minutes he eliminated the flaws on the supporting elements. As he said in a language I could understand: melted my seams and welded the joint in depth.
The second mistake, although not entirely a mistake, is aesthetics. The master, not doing for himself, is trying to sell the presentation, but the fact that all this will be sheathed - he does not care, the client needs beauty, then it's nice to buy the product! In spite of the strong welded seams, I have a lot of blunders that will disappear, of course, but the master is thrown into eyes, hence the price, since a professional cleans every little thing after welding and brings it to an aesthetic beauty!
Third, there are large gaps between two metal parts, the cuts of which are made by a grinder. The pros make them "butt-end" and on the machine instead of the grinder, creating an ideal weld pool. I also have discrepancies of 3 and 4 mm, which I welded in two passes. Accordingly, - 2, or even 3 times more electrodes.
Fourth, you need to pay off the machine (cutting equipment), when using which - all cuts and angles on all elements of the stairs are the same.
The master also explained that the partner / assistant also needs to be paid: bring it, have a drink, give it - then it’s okay: in a week, if he said, he would do it.
Of course, the work of a professional does not compare with mine, but I am glad that a knowledgeable person explained to me everything what makes up the price. But I am also glad that I did it myself, saved money and learned how to work with metal.
I summarize
For the first time - you can't do without blunders! And if you decide to assemble something from metal with your own hands, and besides, you know that you have not mastered welding enough, ask a specialist to boil the seams. Not everything is possible, but at least the part that carries the main load.
Thank you for your attention, and I will be glad if the article was useful to you!
