Self-expanding cement based mortar. Why are its properties important in private construction?

Good afternoon, dear guests and subscribers of the "Build for myself" channel!

I would like to devote this article to the use of self-expanding, non-shrinking GC cement in private construction.

HZ stands for alumina cement.

Despite the fact that this type of cement is widely used in industry, it also has a number of advantages for private housing construction. The following qualities are most in demand:

  • the ability to quickly harden under water;
  • the hardening process proceeds without shrinkage of the mixture;
  • the release of a sufficient amount of heat when working in frost without special additives;
  • self-extension;
  • the operational strength of concrete is achieved already for 3 days;
  • after hardening, HZ becomes refractory and can withstand up to + 1300 ° C.

Where are these properties used in practice?

1. Anchoring

This cement, due to its expandability, perfectly wedges the reinforcing bar in the drilled hole. Despite the cold seam, it expands the structure from the inside and due to the perfect filling (like polyurethane foam) does not leave air gaps. An article has been written on my channel:

2. Restoration of old foundations

Due to rapid hardening, with the help of concretes based on such cement, emergency foundations are restored without a time delay, even at negative temperatures. In addition, during the production of a tunnel and an increase in the area of ​​bearing of old foundations on the ground, such concretes cost by self-expansion - they "pick up" old foundations, which allows to ensure high efficiency of cold seam! 3. Working in a humid environment

A huge advantage of such a cement is the ability to harden not only in a humid environment, but also in water. The onset of setting occurs in 20-30 minutes.

Marking

Unlike Portland cement, GC is marked not by brands, but by strength class: GC-40, GC-50 and GC-60, respectively 40 MPa, 50 MPa and 60 MPa, achieved in the first three days.

40 MPa corresponds to the M500 grade, 50 MPa to the M700 grade and 60 MPa to the M800 grade.

Price

In addition to 50 kg bags, there are also packages of 5, 10 and 25 kg.

The price for HZ really does "bite", but in practice, such cement is mixed with ordinary Portland cement in a ratio of 1: 6 to 1: 3, where 1 is part of the HZ cement.

Alumina cement costs several times higher than Portland cement, but for the money it has excellent refractory qualities and, as I have already mentioned, is used where the hardening rate (3 days) is very high value.
