Is it possible to increase the heat transfer of already installed radiators? - Yes (5 proven and effective ways)

Good afternoon, dear guests and subscribers of my channel!

Heat transfer is exactly the indicator that determines the efficiency of the heating system, and therefore it is one of the key parameters when choosing a product (radiator).

Depending on the material, shape and design, each device emits a different amount of heat under the same conditions, therefore, when purchasing a product, it is important to pay attention first of all - to the characteristics in the technical data sheet of the product and, secondly, to appearance.

But how to increase the heat transfer of already installed radiators? There are several fairly simple but highly effective ways to significantly increase this indicator, moreover, with minimal financial and time costs.

We disassemble in order:

1. Air circulation (convection)

From experience I will say that the main problem of underestimated heat transfer to the room is thick curtains and decorative panels, under which "ugly batteries" are hidden. Because of this, convection is disturbed and the air flow passing through the radiator compartments is not emitted into the room in sufficient quantities.

Here:

  • greater depth of the window sill, namely the part that protrudes beyond the plane of the wall
  • a recessed niche, which is specially made to hide the radiator in the wall.

The owner needs to choose the lesser of two evils:

a) we hide the radiator and improve the appearance of the room;
b) we efficiently heat the house, but then all winter white panels will "be an eyesore".

2. Radiator indents

Each device in its kit has installation instructions. It contains requirements for the minimum and maximum spacing of the product from the wall, floor and window sill.

The depth of installation of the product is at the forefront, because only due to its optimal value - the radiator heats the required amount of air, striving for maximum efficiency.

So, the distance from the wall to the rear wall of the radiator is at least 50 mm. (unless the manufacturer specifies otherwise). And, accordingly, in order to pick up cold air and give the required amount of heated air, the distance from the floor to the radiator and from the radiator to the window sill should be no less than the depth, namely - 50 mm.

If the window sill protrudes beyond the radiator, then for every 1 centimeter of protrusion, the distance from the radiator to the window sill should be increased by 2.5 cm. - only in this case the window sill does not interfere with the correct circulation.

By adjusting all the indents, you will noticeably increase the heat transfer of the products - this is an indisputable fact!

3. Reflective foil screens

Heat-reflecting foil screens significantly increase the efficiency of the heating system. This design is a successfully functioning barrier between the heat source and the cold external surface. walls, which contributes to an increase in the temperature regime in the room by about +2.. + 3 ° С and a decrease in energy consumption on average by 5%.

4. Radiator cleanliness

Oddly enough, the efficiency of a dusty radiator is reduced by 7-10%. Therefore, the accumulation of a large amount of dust and other contaminants on the surface of the radiator negatively affects the heat exchange processes and provokes insufficient heat transfer to the air.

The manufacturer always refers to this problem in the instructions and introduces the requirement that the radiator must be cleaned at least 3 times a year: before the heating season, in the middle of the heating season and after the season heating.

5. Changing the type of radiator trim

In practice, a wide variety of options for piping heating radiators with a piping system are used, presented in diagonal, side or bottom ways:

At the same time, only in conditions of diagonal connection - the movement of the coolant is carried out as evenly as possible across all sections of the device.

The key feature of this method is the almost complete absence of zones that accumulate pollution. Thus, it is the diagonal connection option that is currently the most optimal and cost-effective way of connecting.

These methods work very effectively and increase the quality of the heating system by tens of percent, especially if they are carried out in a complex.

Additionally, it is worth noting that if you recorded the fact of barely warm radiators when the boiler is operating at 40-50 degrees, then you need to flush the system and clean the coarse filter.
