Good afternoon, dear guests and channel subscribers!

"Will I be able to lay the tiles myself?" - this question tormented me from the moment I plastered the bathroom with a cement-sand mixture and I was poured with a semi-dry screed on the warm floor. Thus, the base for the tiles was prepared!

The area of my room on the floor is 5 sq.m., on the walls covered with tiles - 20 sq.m.

I confess that I doubted for a long time whether it will be possible to do it exactly? I invited two tilers for evaluation and for work, the average price is as follows: porcelain stoneware floor - 700 rubles / sq. M., Walls - 1000 rubles / sq. M. (small tile 10 cm * 30 cm). As a result, the entire installation would cost me about 28-30 tr, since there are sections that are calculated by running meters, as well as many outlets of sanitary pipes and sockets.

The terms of work are also approximately the same and range from 5 to 7 days.

Without thinking twice, if professional tillers talk about a week, then I will definitely do it in a month... actually, I decided and started.

I started my "training" from the floor. Dust and primed the surface of the screed and left for a day. During this day I bought 2 mm crosses, crowns and a stone cutting wheel for a wet cut. I have no cuts at an angle, there are only bypasses of sewer and water pipes, and on the walls there are socket boxes.

I will say that on the floor, on my 5 sq.m. it took only 0.7 bags of glue, which is 20 kg. with a layer of 4 mm. Used a comb 8 mm.

After laying the first few tiles, I realized that the main thing is an even screed and this is the key to a successful installation. tiles are 70-80% accurate, the remaining share is divided between hands from the right place, the quality of the tile and glue.

I laid a little more than 70 tiles on the floor and only tore off 3 after an attempt to align in a plane. Torn off due to the fact that I applied little glue to the surface of the screed.

The process is as follows: glue is applied evenly to the screed, first there are strokes across the tile, then one horizontal along. The tiles are laid and by hand pressure, the glue is forced out from under it (in some places I used a rubber hammer). Further, I check with the level in two planes, it can also be used to crush the tiles. After that, I install the crosses, move the slab close to them and continue on... Somehow I got a lot of words, but in reality it's much easier ...

If something is wrong, the tile moves in the plane for 10 minutes and believe me - this is more than enough. In 10 minutes I laid 4 tiles, despite the fact that this is the first time. I spent 2 days on the whole floor.

At the time of this writing, I have already started working on the walls, and I will say that it is harder to work with porcelain stoneware - it is very hard to saw (I do not have a tile cutter, so I only worked with a grinder).

A few words from myself

Can you screw up? Very hard. Each tile is checked with a level, and the crosses give a uniform seam and the tile will not leave after installation, but I repeat that the main thing is an even base. If the glue is applied in a thick layer, it will shrink and the next day you will notice a discrepancy in level.

In addition, the glue makes it possible to correct the position of the slab from 10 to 15 minutes. The main thing is to follow the even joint of the two tiles, for which wedges are used, which make it possible to play with the thickness of the seam. A smooth joint is also checked with any flat object - you can also use a level.

And it is important to remember the rule: measure 7 times and cut 1))) I had to buy a couple of tiles...

That's all, thank you for your attention!
