Visited a small fruit and vegetable market today and was surprised at the prices. Basically, they were half the size of stores like Pyaterochka, Attack and Dixie.
I know that there is Food City, but as far as I understand, they sell everything in bulk and I’m not ready to go one way for an hour and a half in order to buy a kilogram of tomatoes.
In Moscow stores, prices for fruits and vegetables are usually lower than at "Weekend Fairs" and markets. But it turns out that there are markets where everything costs almost half the price. The market I visited is located near the Losinoostrovskaya station (this is in Moscow, near the Babushkinskaya metro station).
Pepper costs 120 rubles (there are also 100 rubles, but not very). In Pyaterochka, it costs 240 rubles per share.
Tomatoes start at 70 rubles. The most expensive are 220. the shops sell tasteless "rubber" tomatoes for that price.
Fruit is also generally cheaper than in stores.
Strawberries 125 rubles per pound.
I wonder why there is such a difference in prices and are there other such markets in Moscow?
