Gauss Basic LED lamps have recently been on sale. I have tested and studied seven models.

Gauss is one of the first brands of LED lamps to appear in Russia, which is probably why it has become one of the most popular.

Gauss has always had two series of lamps - the usual in black boxes and the "Elementary" economy series in white boxes. Now the Basic series has appeared.

All lamps in black boxes have a CRI (Ra)> 90 (this is not true, in fact 80-86), lamps in white boxes have a color rendering index Ra> 80 (this is also not true, in fact 71-77).

Another feature of Gauss is that most "warm" lamps have a color temperature of 2700K, while most non-filament lamps have a color temperature of about 3000K. Filament lamps were only available in black boxes.

The Gauss Basic series includes both conventional and filament lamps. Interestingly, there is not a word about this series on the official website.

On the packaging of lamps (both conventional and filament), Ra> 80 is indicated, the supply voltage range is 180-240 V, the service life is 15,000 hours, the warranty is 1 year (for filaments, 25,000 hours and 2 years). No ripple declared.

The measured color rendering index for non-filament lamps was 72-75, for filament lamps 82. Filament lamps are built on linear drivers, so they will certainly work at 180 V, but they are "overwhelmed". Two 9.5 W and 13.5 W pear lamps are also built on linear drivers, but their brightness drops by 5% when the supply voltage drops to 188-198 V, so that in the range of 180-240 V they are more or less fit in.

The luminous flux and the equivalent power of the incandescent lamp for all lamps almost corresponds to the declared, and some even slightly exceed the values indicated on the packaging.

Power is traditionally overstated by 1-23%.

The light ripple coefficient of all lamps does not exceed 0.5%.

All lamps work correctly with a switch that has an indicator (do not light up or flash when the switch is off).

According to the labels on the packaging, non-filament lamps are manufactured at Leedarson Lighting (the largest and most famous Chinese plant that makes lamps for IKEA, OSRAM and many others). Filament at Shandong Prosperous Star Optoelectronics.

The results of my measurements.

Reports for lamps 1034126 (5.5 W candle) and 1041125 (4.5 W filament candle).

Luminous flux, color temperature and color rendering index were measured using two-meter integrating sphere and spectrometer Instrument Systems CAS 140 CT, power consumption and power factor of the device Robiton PM-2, device ripple Uprtek MK350D. The minimum operating voltage, at which the luminous flux decreased by no more than 5% of the nominal, was measured using the device Lamptest-1, stabilizer Calm Instab 500 and LATRA Suntek TDGC2-0.5. Before measurements, to stabilize the parameters, the lamps were warmed up for half an hour.

Gauss Basic non-filament lamps appear to be no different from Gauss Elementary. I do not recommend buying either one or the other primarily because of the low color rendering index.

Gauss Basic filament lamps most likely differ from Gauss in black boxes only in the warranty period (2, not 3 years) and a slightly lower price.
