Smart watches are on sale Xiaomi Huami Amazfit Bip S. I studied them and compared them with my Amazfit Bip.
With the advent of the mobile phone, I gave up wearing watches and was sure that I would never start wearing them again. When the first smartwatches appeared, it only caused bewilderment to me: why have another gadget that you need to charge regularly if the phone does an excellent job with all its functions, which is always with yourself.
And then the Amazfit Bip watch appeared. Small, lightweight, comfortable, with a transflective touch screen that always displays information. And most importantly, they do not require charging for more than a month. When many of my relatives and acquaintances got such a watch, I gave up and decided to try it too, and for eight months I hardly take them off.
Conveniently, you can always see the time, including at night, without looking for your phone in the dark. It is convenient that the clock notifies about incoming calls, SMS, messages in messengers (they also show messages, but I can hardly distinguish them - it is too small for me). Conveniently, the watch shows weather information. The watch also has a stopwatch, pedometer, heart rate meter, GPS, sports modes, but personally I don't use all of this.
The new Amazfit Bip S model looks exactly the same, it also lasts a long time from charging, it also has a permanently on screen. There are several differences.
Due to Bluetooth 5.0 BLE, BIP S has significantly increased the speed of synchronization with the application.
According to the manufacturer, the new BioTracker PPG heart rate sensor uses less energy and has higher accuracy.
Sony's GPS / GLONASS module also has lower power consumption, faster satellite search speed and greater accuracy.
The new watch has improved the protection of the case against water, the manufacturer guarantees the watch's performance when submerged to 50 meters.
Thanks to the improved protection, the BIP's four sport modes (running, treadmill, cycling, walking) were added two more: open water swimming and pool swimming.
All advertising materials indicate ten sports modes, but so far there are six. Four more - an exercise bike, elliptical trainer, yoga and freestyle are promised to be added in new firmware.
Added control over the music playing on the smartphone (switching tracks, adjusting the volume).
Added PAI (Personal Activity Intelligence) function. It is a health scoring system that takes into account the effect of physical activity on the heart.
The Amazfit Bip S comes with an instruction manual and a charging cradle that can be connected to any charger with a USB port.
The dimensions of the watches differ quite a bit, but the difference in thickness is noticeable.
To compare screens, I installed on the BIP S the same simple inverse dial that I use on the BIP. The new BIP S had a slightly darker screen.
The clock interface has changed. With BIP, a long press on the button starts the training mode. For BIP S, a long press is configurable, and a short press after waking up starts the menu.
By default, this menu consists of ten items: Achievements, Heart Rate, PAI, Sports, Weather, Alarm, Timer, Compass, Music, Settings. Menu items can be swapped and hidden.
Any of the five items in this menu (Music, Achievements, PAI, Heart Rate, Weather) can be fixed as shortcuts. The first item will be displayed if you swipe to the right, the second if you swipe again.
An additional menu appears if you swipe from top to bottom. It has four items - night mode, screen lock, brightness, music.
Swiping to the left displays the weather.
Swiping up from the bottom opens the last notification. Another shift up opens the penultimate one, and so on.
The main clock screen can now have areas that, when clicked, will trigger an action. So, by default, the watch face shows a heart rate graph at the bottom, if you click on it, the heart rate measurement screen will open.
The new Amazfit app is used to sync with the phone (Bip worked with the Mi Fit app, and now they can be connected to Amazfit).

Dials from ordinary BIPs are not suitable for BIP S: the dial is set, but the percentage of the battery charge, the number of steps and, possibly, other information is not displayed. In Russia Amazfit Bip S is sold for 5990 rubles only Messenger and Megaphone so far only in black (sometimes orange, white and pink).
On Aliexpress, the "Amazfit Official Store" starts selling the new model on May 2nd. Now installed price $ 89.99, but on May 2 they promise to reduce the price to $ 79 and send an additional strap as a gift to the first 500 customers.
