At the beginning of 2020, an updated version of the Redmi Airdots TWS headphones was released - the letter "S" was added to the model name. The main difference of the new model is the way of communication with a smartphone.
I suffered with the first Redmi Airdots - the sound was constantly interrupted in the subway and on the street. After turning off Wi-Fi in the phone, on the advice of one of the readers, the sound in the subway almost stopped being interrupted, but in many places on the street it was still interrupted. Perhaps I just came across defective headphones, I don't know.
I bought a new model that differs in the way of connection: in Redmi Airdots, only the right earpiece is connected to the phone and it itself transmits sound to the left one. Both earbuds are connected to Redmi Airdots S. Among other pleasures, this allows you to use only one earphone (for example, to listen to audiobooks).
Redmi Airdots S work perfectly - the sound is not interrupted (including when Wi-Fi is on), the headphones work fine in the metro and on the street.
The sound quality is quite consistent with my needs for headphones "for the metro" - there are low and high, the sound is not unpleasant. There are no complaints about super sound quality, the simplest codec is used - SBC, others are not supported.
There are microphones in the headphones, but it is difficult to use them as a headset - the interlocutor almost does not hear you. Perhaps in a quiet room you can talk on them, but on the street everything is bad.
Another inconvenience - as in the first version, each earphone has a button, the size of the entire back wall. When you press it, the music is paused, with a long hold, Google Assistant starts. When you put the headphones in your ears, it's almost impossible not to press a button. Accordingly, the music is paused, then the assistant is called when it is not needed. The same thing happens if you just need to fix the earpiece in your ear - the button will be pressed.
All labels on the box are in Chinese.
The instruction is also only in Chinese.
The charging case is the same as that of the first Airdots, only the top now says not Mi, but Redmi. The connector is still MicroUSB.
I ordered headphones delivered from Russia for $ 20.99 (minus coupons, of course). Now this seller in the Russian warehouse has run out of them, but upon delivery from China, the price only $ 16.88 with good fast delivery to Pyaterochka or Citylink.
I solved the problem with "headphones for the subway" for myself, and despite the indicated shortcomings, Redmi Airdots S are completely satisfactory to me.
