How the reverse osmosis cartridge works

  • Dec 11, 2020

After replacing the membrane cartridge of the reverse osmosis water filtration system, I took apart the old cartridge to see how it works.

The cartridge is non-separable, so I had to cut.

Inside there was a "replaceable membrane type" element. It is surprising that he was there with a label (however, it does not come into contact with drinking water).

From the end, it looks like this.

Water enters through this end, after filtration, the water leaves the tube, and excess water is drained into the drain from the other end.

Inside is a sly "sandwich" rolled into a tube.

It consists of three elements - a coarse mesh, a fine mesh and the membrane itself (it is in the photo on the left). The membrane is similar to paper, but very resilient and tends to curl up into a tube.

And in the center there is such a "pipe" - a tube with through holes and a plugged end.

What people can't think of!
