My Troika keychain is completely broken. In order to fix it I had to use an X-ray.
Since the end of 2017, I have been using the Troika key fob to pay for public transport, and it is really very convenient: you cannot forget it at home, you can only lose it with the keys to the apartment.
In March this year, my keychain cracked. I sealed the crack, but after two and a half months, a piece of the keychain fell off completely.
I didn't want to spend 300 rubles on a new keychain, so I went to the subway and asked to enlighten the keychain X-ray (where hand luggage is checked at the entrance) to see where the antenna and chip are located at the key fob.
The X-ray machine in the metro has a low resolution, it is not very suitable for small objects, the picture has to be re-captured from the screen, but everything is clearly visible in the picture.
The chip, antenna are clearly visible and the terminals of the chip to which the antenna is connected are slightly visible.
I overlaid the X-ray image onto a rectangle with the real dimensions of the keychain (50.9 x 24.6 mm) and found a safe place for the new hole: 10 mm on the left, 8 mm on the bottom.
Marked and drilled.
The three is readable, the electronics are not damaged when drilling the hole.
I hope that the repaired keychain will last another three years, and then you will have to buy a new one, because if the angle breaks off now, the antenna will definitely break.
