When I just started to comprehend the basics of gardening, I got rid of the nettle without regret, which literally multiplied along the fence at the speed of light.
Then I considered her a malicious annoying herb, unwilling to leave my territory. However, it was only a few years later that I learned that I was actually destroying a very useful fertilizer that could benefit my garden all this time.
It turned out that nettle contains a lot of nitrogen, thanks to which plants begin to grow and develop faster. In a word, when all the benefits of nettle for the beds were appreciated, I stopped considering it a weed and now willingly I use it as an effective feeding.
In order to prepare the infusion, I collect a good armful of this burning plant, and then I cut all the branches into several parts. Please be aware that nettles should only be torn with gloves, otherwise you can get burns.
After the plant is crushed, I fill a plastic barrel with it about halfway, and then fill it 2/3 with warm water.
In order for the fermentation process to begin in the container, pour in a little sugar or add a piece of rye bread. After that, it remains only to wait until the liquid stops bubbling, usually this happens no earlier than 2 weeks later. The barrel must be warm all this time, and its contents must be stirred.
When the infusion is ready we dilute it with water in a ratio of 1:10 and we begin to water the plants at the root. Under tomato and cucumber bushes, I pour 0.5-1 liters of top dressing, moreover, I do it very carefully so that drops do not fall on leaves and on hands - although this solution is less concentrated, it can still cause severe irritation skin.
After applying this fertilizer, the tomatoes cease to suffer from late blight, and also become more juicy and large - I was personally convinced of these changes more than once.
By the way, dandelions, burdocks and comfrey can also be added to a barrel with nettles, which will only enhance the effect and multiply the beneficial properties of feeding.
