Friends, I welcome everyone!

Many have heard that riveting of parts is used in many areas of the national economy, for example, in aircraft construction. Such a connection is very strong and reliable, it's not for nothing that planes are riveted!

But there is such a connection in welding, called an electric rivet. The meaning of such a connection is that the upper metal is melted with the electrode, as a rule, it is sheet metal, and through this hole it is welded to the lower frame of the structure. It turns out such a welded spot in the shape of a fungus!

Sometimes holes are made in the upper metal with a drill and through them they are welded to the frame.

In the USSR, this welding technique was used in car building.

This method is not widespread today, but welders sometimes use it in their work. Next, I'll show you a couple of examples from my work.

This last summer I cooked a garage door for a friend. The sheet metal was welded to the gate frame with electric rivets. I drilled a hole in the sheets, exposed, and, pressing tightly, welded with dots with the base.

Of course, there is more work than with simple seam welding, but this method gives minimal deformation, and I just wanted to do it well and unusual.

I also welded homemade sides on trucks several times with electric rivets. It turns out strong and aesthetically pleasing.

There is even a video from the old work, how I cooked these boards.

Friends, if you need to weld sheet metal to the base, then you can safely apply welding with electric rivets. You will get a very reliable connection.
