Watering rules
It is not recommended to irrigate the planted seeds of tomatoes and peppers until the first shoots appear. Before sowing, the prepared soil is loosened and moistened. The seeds are planted in holes and sprinkled with dry earth on top. If watering is carried out during this period, then they may be drawn deep into the soil and will not sprout for a long time. Too dry substrate can be carefully moistened with a spray bottle.
It is recommended to water immature sprouts with a syringe, which is buried 5 cm into the soil. With this method, the top layer of the earth remains loose, and the delicate roots receive the required amount of moisture. You can put containers with seedlings in a tray with a little water. Water the sprouts no more than once a week. Excess moisture can block oxygen access to a fragile root system.
To control soil moisture, it is recommended to plant tomato and pepper seeds in transparent cups. The next watering is carried out after the soil dries out along the edges of the container. Solanaceous crops tolerate moisture deficiency better than excess moisture.
When 3-4 true leaves appear on the seedlings, the first pick is carried out. Before this procedure, the plants are not watered for 2 days, then the earth will be loose, and the roots will not suffer much.
Seedlings are carefully transplanted into new containers with moist soil. The next irrigation is carried out no earlier than 5 days later. There must be holes at the bottom of the containers through which excess moisture will escape. After the pick, watering is carried out carefully so that the water falls only on the ground and does not affect the green part of the plants.
Immediately before planting seedlings in an open area, they are watered abundantly. The plant is taken out of the container along with a lump of moist earth and placed in a hole prepared on the garden bed. The first time planted seedlings of tomatoes and peppers are watered no earlier than 2 weeks later. In the future, irrigation is carried out at intervals of 5-7 days, depending on weather conditions. At the same time, only the ground is moistened, the stems and leaves of plants must remain dry.
The amount of moisture can be controlled with a wooden stick, which is buried 7 cm into the soil and then pulled out. If the branch is dirty and wet, then there is enough water, and if it is dry, then the intervals between irrigations should be reduced.
Water preparation
At all stages of cultivation, watering of tomato and pepper seedlings is carried out with warm, settled water. It is recommended to defend it for at least 8 hours, you can collect liquid in containers in the evening, cover with lids, and use it for watering in the morning.
It is recommended to irrigate immature sprouts after seed germination with melt water, which is prepared. Plain tap liquid is poured into plastic bottles and placed in a freezer to freeze. Then the container is taken out, and the liquid is used only after the ice has melted and it warms up to room temperature. When cold water is used, tender seedlings may suffer from black leg disease.
