For the treatment of the vineyard, a variety of preparations are used, among which inexpensive copper sulfate is distinguished by good performance. Spraying grapes with a solution of this agent in the fall will help fight harmful insects and prevent the development of diseases.
It is necessary to observe the recommended proportions during cooking in order to exclude possible damage to plants, as well as harm to people. Take 50 g of the drug, which must be dissolved in a glass of slightly warmed water with vigorous stirring.
The resulting concentrate is immediately poured into a bucket and 5 liters of water are added. The working solution is used immediately after preparation, since after a while it loses the properties of a fungicide.
For spraying, choose a dry, calm weather. It is important that there is no rain for at least 4-5 hours after treatment.
The agent used belongs to the substances of the third hazard class, therefore, when performing the procedure, there should be no animals or other people, especially children, nearby. The person performing the treatment needs to wear gloves, tight closed clothing, a hat, goggles, and a respirator.
The use of ferrous sulfate
Iron sulfate is used both for treating vegetation against possible diseases, and for replenishing iron deficiency, a sign which is a significant decrease in yield, the development of chlorotic leaves with a deformed shape, a weakening of the development of young shoots. Most often, iron deficiency manifests itself on alkaline soils, as well as with excessive application of potash fertilizers.
The use of iron sulphate for the autumn spraying of grapes will not only protect it from damage by insects and diseases, but also strengthen the shrubs. The greatest efficiency is shown by iron vitriol when organizing the fight against fungal infections.
For autumn irrigation, 30 g of the product will be required, which must be thoroughly dissolved in 10 liters of water with active stirring. It is advisable to strain the working solution before the procedure.
Iron sulfate is used to remove overgrown lichens and moss from the trunks. In this situation, take 500 g of the drug in a ten-liter bucket of water. Spray the bushes, avoiding drops of solution on the berries. The treatment is repeated two weeks later.
It should be borne in mind that copper and iron sulfate is used not only in the fall, but also in the summer season with the first signs of trouble in order to fight infections and harmful insects. Be sure to observe safety measures.
Alternatives to vitriol
In the spring, for the prevention of diseases, before budding, grape bushes are sprayed with water brought to a boil. It effectively kills pathogens. This procedure is performed once.
When caterpillars appear, dust is used (2.5 g per 1 m2). To consolidate the result, repeat the treatment after 10-12 days. You can prepare a solution of 10 g of "Parisian (French) greenery" and twice the amount of lime. Dissolve the mixture in 20 L of water.
Processing grapes in the autumn with solutions prepared on the basis of copper (or iron) vitriol serve as a guarantee of good fruiting for the next year.
