Information about zamioculcas

Under favorable conditions and good care, it reaches a height of up to 1 meter. The leaves are round, soft, colored bright green. The dollar tree is a lot like the money tree, they have the same root system - the roots in the tubers store moisture in case of a sudden drought.

It rarely blooms at home, but if you are lucky, you will see an unusual flower in the form of an ear. Flowers can be pale pink, white and yellow. A large leaf covers them from above; these flowers reach a height of 8 cm. In order for the zamioculcas to bloom, these conditions must be met:

  • Scheduled watering.
  • The temperature in the room should be at least 25 degrees.
  • Good lighting.

Principles of growing a dollar tree

It is not difficult to fulfill them, but still there are some peculiarities. Care rules are based on 4 main factors: light, air humidity, temperature, watering and feeding.

Lighting

The dollar tree loves lighted rooms, but young or just transplanted plants need to be shaded for the first two weeks. This helps to adapt to new conditions. Then the pot can be rearranged to the south window, but the best must be closed from direct sunlight, otherwise the delicate leaves will get burned.

Temperature

The flower will grow comfortably, bloom and develop at a temperature of +25 degrees. In winter, you need to lower the temperature so that the plant goes into dormancy and gains strength for active growth in summer. In winter, it is recommended to lower the temperature to 16 degrees, although zamiokulkas can live on an insulated loggia, where the temperature does not drop below 12 degrees.

Air humidity

The flower prefers a very humid climate, so to create it you need:

  • Spray the leaves every day with room temperature water.
  • Put the pot on a pallet with wet expanded clay so that moisture is always released into the air around the flower.

During the heating season, do not place the dollar tree near the radiator. It will dry out and wither, but if you still put it on the windowsill above the battery, then wipe the leaves with a damp cloth.

Watering and feeding

The key factor that is responsible for the proper development of the plant is regular watering. In fact, a tree can do without it for a week, so this plant is suitable for those who forget to water their flowers or are often absent from home.

Watering the zamioculcas is necessary only after the soil in the pot has completely dried. If you water it too often, the roots can rot and the tree will die.

IMPORTANT! There should be no swamp on the surface of the pot, overflow is worse than drought for a dollar tree.

During active growth, feeding is necessary. The young flower is fed every two weeks with special succulent kits. In winter, feeding should be stopped, because the plant enters a dormant phase.

What problems can arise during the care process

From these signs, you can understand what your dollar tree is missing:

  • If the leaves turn pale and stretch, then the flower does not have enough light.
  • The spots on the roots indicate that the plant has become small in its pot.
  • The yellowing of the leaves signals that the root system is rotting.
  • Light spots on the stems cause fungal diseases.
