Good afternoon, my reader. The tradition of giving a dollar tree to loved ones is explained by the plant's ability to bring financial well-being. However, the real reason may be more prosaic - an exotic flower is not whimsical to growing conditions.

Flower description

Zamioculcas zamielistny is a herb with a powerful, well-developed tuberous root. Its tall (up to 1 m), dark green, complex-pinnate leaves with a glossy glare make the flower attractive.

At home, culture rarely pleases with flowering. A nondescript ear wrapped in a petal-veil has no decorative value. To stimulate the flowering process, the dollar tree needs to create ideal conditions:

  • diffused lighting;
  • air temperature not lower than 18-20 ° С;
  • moderate watering.

Having created these conditions, flowering can be expected already in the first years of cultivation. However, the decoration of an evergreen plant will be its leaves-stems, growing directly from the roots. The tropical flower originally from Africa got its name because of the similarity of the leaves with another culture - zamia.

Important! Zamioculcas easily tolerates short-term drought, but does not tolerate stagnation of moisture in the soil.

Care

Growing a dollar tree in a room isn't too much of a hassle. A light-loving plant needs good lighting, otherwise its stems will stretch out, losing their decorative effect. However, protection from direct sunlight is needed, which can cause burns to the crown.

Zamioculcas tolerates heat well (up to + 25 ° C) and short drought. In summer, he is comfortable on an open balcony or in the yard. During the winter dormant period, the air temperature should be lower. The flower can be placed in a warmed loggia, if the thermometer does not drop there below +12 ° С.

In the heat, the dollar tree needs "water treatments" - spraying the crown with lukewarm water. In the absence of conditions, this event can be replaced by wiping the leaves with a damp cloth. Or put moss dipped in water in the pan of a flower pot.

Reproduction

Lovers of indoor flowers do not always have the opportunity to purchase a plant they like because of its high cost. In such cases, you can use the reproduction methods:

  • a handle;
  • sheet;
  • dividing the rhizome.

In the first case, the stalk is separated from the adult flower with a sharp knife so that a dormant bud is preserved in its lower part. The process is shortened so that 1-2 leaves remain on it. The cut sites are treated with brilliant green or activated carbon and left to dry slightly for a couple of hours.

The finished cutting is placed in a container with moist soil (for succulents), slightly deepening the vegetative bud. To stimulate growth, the soil can be moistened with a solution of "Kornevin" or potassium humate.

In addition, you can create a greenhouse effect for the cutting by covering the planting container with polyethylene. The "greenhouse" is periodically ventilated to get rid of excess moisture, which can lead to decay of the appendix. Reproduction by leaf or by dividing the tuber is carried out in the same way.

A spectacular and unpretentious flower will be a worthy decor for any space. And uncomplicated conditions of care are an additional plus in the cultivation of zamioculcas.
