Lighting

Hydrangeas are harmful to direct sunlight. They provoke the loss of decorativeness by the shrub. It is better to keep the pot 3 m from the southern windowsill.

The intense lighting of the plant should not change throughout the year. A lack of light in winter can kill the hydrangea. In winter, it is worth using artificial lighting.

The flower also needs fresh air. That is why the room where the pot is located should be frequently ventilated without creating drafts.

Temperature and humidity

When growing a plant at home, you should adhere to a temperature regime that does not exceed +20 ⁰С.

In winter, the flower is moved to a room with a temperature of +4 ⁰C to +9 ⁰C. In this case, shoots must be cut by 2/3. The bush in the pot is covered with spruce branches and non-woven material.

In addition to coolness, the plant needs high humidity.

Watering and fertilizing

Hydrangea is moisture-loving. She needs abundant and frequent watering. Water the plant, adhering to the rules:

  • The soil near the roots must be constantly moistened.
  • In winter, the frequency of watering is reduced.
  • When buds appear, they gradually return to the normal watering regime.
  • Use settled, slightly warm water.

On summer days, the flower needs mineral fertilizing. Twice a week it is fertilized with a liquid mixture, for which they take the ingredients:

  • potassium sulfate - 30 g;
  • superphosphate - 40 g;
  • ammonium nitrate - 30 g;
  • water - 10 liters.

From August 15, fertilization of the flower is stopped.

How to transplant an indoor hydrangea?

The transplant is carried out every year. The soil must be fertile. To do this, mix the sod soil with sheet and sand (3: 3: 1).

Reproduction techniques

The shrub is propagated by division, cuttings, seeds.

Dividing the bush

Division is considered the easiest way:

  • The bush is divided during transplantation.
  • The shoot is taken with a sufficient number of roots and a growth point.
  • The shoot and roots of the delenki are shortened, then planted in a new pot.

Seed propagation

The flower is propagated by seeds at the end of winter. Seed material is not embedded in the soil. Cover the container with foil.

The crops are ventilated and moistened daily until 2 leaves appear on the sprouts. After that, the plants are transplanted into a deeper pot.

Cuttings

Cuttings are cut in January. They should be about 8 cm long. Each segment must have up to 3 internodes. The leaves from the bottom of the cutting are removed, and from above are shortened by a third.

The planting material is treated with a root formation stimulator and is planted in a pot. The seedling is watered and covered with a transparent container.
