However, not so long ago, many experts began to use it for gardening, and the popularity of this tool has increased dramatically. What does a person who wants to buy a hydrogel need to know, how to apply it in practice and what will be the benefit? You will find out about this in our article.

Purpose of funds

The growing popularity of the hydrogel has led to questions arising from gardeners and a desire to learn more about it. A beautiful and extraordinary appearance attracts even more buyers, but many are worried about the possible dangers of this product. It is also universal: it can be used for different purposes.

The hydrogel is most often sold in the form of granules, the less common is in the form of a powder, packed in sachets. Granular polymer is a complex chemical from which the multicolored beads under study are made. Unfortunately, some buyers make the mistake of buying a hydrogel and only use it for decorative purposes, placing the hydrogel on the windowsill with flowers.

The advantage of this product is that it absorbs moisture well, while increasing in size. 200 ml of liquid - that's how much one ball can absorb. Then this water moves to the roots of the plant, which has a beneficial effect on the growth of the plantings.

The goal of the hydrogel development is to provide plants with moisture between waterings. The granules are mixed with the soil, in which the flowers grow, whose roots absorb the water accumulated by the balls. However, each root system has its own characteristics, this should be taken into account. After each watering, the granules absorb moisture, and the same cycle occurs.

This feature of moisture absorption avoids rotting of the root system. And if you use more than just water, but a nutrient solution with fertilizers, the benefits of the hydrogel will be doubled. There are 2 types of this flower remedy:

  • Colorless soft. It is easy for roots to grow through these balls and provide themselves with moisture. Ideal for gardeners who rarely water their flowers, as well as for growing seeds and rooting cuttings.
  • Aqua soil, it is dense. Differs in a variety of shapes: in addition to round, there are square, triangular. It is rather a decorative type used for interior decoration.

Instructions for use

Each package contains balls of different colors and weight. Small granules are used for germinating seeds, and large ones are used for placing in the ground. The beneficial effect of the hydrogel does not depend on its color.

It is imperative to soak the hydrogel in water before use, due to this it will better absorb moisture later and will become larger. The proportion is as follows: add 2 tablespoons of material to 3 liters. After swelling, the water is drained and the granules are placed in a dry place. You can store them in the refrigerator, but not at room temperature: this way they will shrink and crystallize.

For growing seedlings create a mixture of 3-4 parts of soil and 1 part of granules. A container is filled with this mass, and seeds and a thin layer of the hydrogel itself are placed on top. Then it is sprayed with water and covered with foil.
