Good afternoon, my reader. Each summer resident decides for himself how to arrange flower beds. Someone, deciding to simplify the task, gives preference to perennials. And someone has enough time and patience to tinker with seedlings every year. However, there are bright annual flowers that are easy to grow by sowing in the ground in the fall.

Benefits of winter sowing

Planting material planted in the soil in late autumn, to the surprise of some gardeners, not only does not freeze over the winter, but, on the contrary, becomes hardened.

Seedlings from such seeds appear earlier than those planted in spring. They develop faster, practically do not get sick, steadfastly endure the "whims" of nature. It is important that their flowering begins earlier and continues until the very cold weather.

It cannot be guaranteed that all planting material will 100% rise, but the overall end result will be overwhelming. Among the annual flowers, there are enough bright crops that can no doubt be sown before winter.

Lavatera three-month

Gardeners dubbed the bright flower the "wild rose". The unpretentious bushes of the annual lavater spread 90-100 cm in width. Therefore, several plants can decorate an entire meadow. Buds up to 10 cm in diameter are located on the stems singly or collected in paniculate inflorescences. Painted most often in white, pale pink, crimson shades.

High culture (up to 1.2-1.5 m) with large flowers of bright colors does not require special care. The plant tolerates both drought and temperature changes. Lavatera prefers loose soil and moderate watering. It can grow even in the shade of trees, bushes.

Kosmeya

The seeds of these delicate flowers have excellent germination. Cosmos bushes grow from 50 to 100 cm. At the same time, tall thin peduncles rise significantly above the bright green feathery foliage.

Opened and double buds reach up to 9 cm. And their bright colors in white, pink, burgundy and yellow colors can decorate any corner of the garden. Looks great in group plantings. Dwarf varieties (Versailles, Cosmini) are suitable for growing in flowerpots, hanging pots.

Kosmeya tolerates short-term drought, but still prefers moderate watering. The soil should be light, but not too fertile, otherwise the crop will increase its green mass at the expense of flowering. The plant will be comfortable in a wind-protected, not swampy area.

Alyssum (sea lobularia)

Low-growing (up to 30 cm) bushes of alyssum, which gardeners call among themselves "burachka", are irreplaceable in the design of borders, rabatok, rock gardens. A wide range of colors - from white and yellow to pink, lilac and lilac - allows you to use flowers in any composition. In addition, the lush inflorescences of lobelia are a wonderful honey plant, exuding a delicate aroma.

The light-loving plant is undemanding to the composition of the soil, it tolerates short-term drought well. However, in the heat, the soil should be periodically moistened and wilted inflorescences should be removed in a timely manner so that the plant does not lose its attractiveness.

Seeds planted for the winter will give strong offspring that are not afraid of climatic changes. In addition, the autumn event will save precious time in spring, which is so lacking for every summer resident.
