Growing seedlings
It is necessary to sow eustoma seeds in winter - from mid-January to early February. At this time, the daylight hours are short, so the seedlings will need additional lighting with a phytolamp. You can purchase a ready-made soil mixture for Saintpaulias or make it yourself by mixing peat, sand and garden soil. The substrate should be air and moisture permeable and not have a high pH level. Ash can be added to the soil.
Before planting eustoma seeds, the land must be processed. To do this, it is kept over steam for an hour, due to which all harmful microorganisms die in it.
The container should also be disinfected by rinsing with potassium permanganate. Then it is filled with soil, which is slightly moistened. Seeds must be laid out on the surface of the soil using tweezers or a toothpick, after which the eustoma is watered.
To create greenhouse conditions, the container is covered with a suitable material and placed under the light source. Seedlings will need additional lighting until mid-March. Daylight hours should last 12 hours. At a temperature of + 20... + 25 ° C, sprouts will appear in 10-15 days.
Seedlings need to be aired daily. The soil must not be allowed to dry, it must be moistened. The pick is carried out in 6-8 weeks, when 2-3 leaves appear on the plants. In a new container, the roots of the eustoma should be placed freely. The root collar of the plant is not buried, but is left at ground level.
Water the plants with water with the addition of fungicides. The liquid should be soft, not cold. After transplanting, the seedlings begin to develop more rapidly. When daylight hours increase, artificial lighting is removed.
In mid-March, eustoma is transferred to larger pots. It is important not to damage the root system.
Once in 13-15 days, eustoma is fertilized with a complex of mineral dressings. When 4-6 leaves are formed on the plant, it is planted in open ground.
How to care for eustoma
Planting a rose without thorns is carried out in an area in partial shade. The plant does not like winds and drafts. Previously, the earth is dug up, adding fertilizing to it in the form of nitro- or azophoska. Sour earth is mixed with ash or dolomite flour. Fertilizers must be evenly distributed in the soil. Having transferred the bushes to a permanent place, they are watered, trying not to get on the greens. It is recommended to cover the area with flowers with mulch so that the moisture evaporates more slowly.
The soil should be regularly loosened and weeded, constantly kept in a slightly damp state. Lack of moisture can lead to dropping of buds and leaves. If the soil is fertile, top dressing is applied 2-3 times, combining them with watering. It should be remembered that an excess of nutrients for a flower is dangerous.
If the eustoma belongs to tall varieties, it is tied to supports.
In conditions of high humidity and in cloudy weather, in order to prevent the development of fungal infection, the area with flowers is treated with special agents, for example, "Fundazol".
