The advantage of these dressings is that any gardener can choose them at their discretion. In addition, own recipes work well, increasing yields and improving the quality of vegetables.
For cooking use:
- Yeast. To do this, dissolve 1 pack of this product in a bucket of warm water and put it in a warm place for 3 days. The composition must be mixed once a day. It is introduced into warm soil after watering the plants, taking 0.5 liters for each bush. Yeast not only accelerates the growth of vegetables, but also protects against various pests. It is important not to overfeed the plants and carry out the procedure 2-3 times throughout the season.
- You can replace yeast with bread, soaking it overnight in 10 liters of water. This folk remedy is used as a foliar feeding. In the morning, knead the bread well, adding 10 ml of iodine to the mass. 1 liter of the resulting mixture is diluted with 10 liters of water and the bushes are sprayed with this composition. To obtain root fertilization, bread must be kept in a warm room for 7-8 days. The bucket should be closed with a lid; instead of a whole loaf, you can take stale crusts. The finished starter culture is diluted by taking 1 part per 10 liters of water. Cucumbers are fertilized at least 1 time per week from the first day of the appearance of ovaries until the very end of fruiting.
Other means
The yield of the crop directly depends on competently carried out dressings:
- Onion husks are allowed to be used both for root irrigation and foliar spraying. In addition, onion infusion perfectly protects the culture from diseases and some harmful insects. For 5 liters of warm water, take 20 g of husk and put in a warm place for 4 days. Strain the infusion before use. The tool is useful not only for cucumbers, it is recommended to process other plants with it, for example, tomato bushes.
- It is good to feed vegetables with dry wood ash, sprinkling it at the roots immediately before watering the plants or insisting 2-3 tbsp. l. substances in 1 liter of water for 2 weeks. It is advisable to carry out the procedure at least 5 times per season, taking 0.5 liters of infusion per 1 bush. It is important to take exclusively wood materials and dry grass for top dressing, without burning polymers, rubber and other inorganic debris unsuitable for fertilization in the fire. Ash, depending on the material, differs in composition. For example, deciduous trees have more calcium, meadow grasses contain more potassium, straw and bark contain a lot of phosphorus.
- Chicken manure benefits many horticultural crops. These include cucumbers, which, thanks to feeding, will receive a lot of substances necessary for growth and development. Chicken droppings are poured with water in a ratio of 1:20 and infused for several hours with occasional stirring. After straining, the product is ready for use. This top dressing is used three times per season: during the growing season, during flowering and fruiting.
- A good effect is also obtained by an aqueous solution of boric acid, which not only increases the number of ovaries, but also improves the taste of vegetables. An herbal infusion that does not require any costs has proven itself perfectly. You just need to mow the weeds, put them in a barrel and fill them with water, leaving them for 8-10 days.
