Tomatoes grow well in a greenhouse - but for this they need to be watered properly. Alas, not all gardeners know exactly how to do this. Therefore, we will deal with the methods of watering that are recommended by agricultural scientists and experienced vegetable growers.

Changing the amount of water
Tomatoes are common vegetables in any greenhouse. They contain a large amount of substances useful to humans: vitamins, plant proteins and trace elements. Tomatoes are used to prepare juices, sauces, purees and dressings for complex canned food. If you do not violate the technique of growing and processing, there will be no problems with tomatoes.
To harvest a rich crop, it is necessary to air, water and pollinate the crop in time. To do this, you need to carefully monitor the condition of the tomato bushes, especially paying attention to the dosage of watering. Tomatoes do not tolerate waterlogging, which is why they need no more than 4 liters of water per 1 sq. m landings. The dosage increases only during flowering - then up to 12 liters per 1 sq. m landings. The water temperature for irrigation should be about 22 degrees Celsius - then the plants develop the fastest, gaining maximum weight and having the best taste.
The main difficulty with watering is using the hose.
The bay must be rolled out so as not to damage the plants when the end of the hose moves, and then assembled correctly without breaking the bushes. New models, which themselves lengthen and contract during operation, can save the situation.
How to regulate humidity
When watering tomatoes in a greenhouse, there are two things to watch out for:
- So that the bushes do not dry out.
- So that they do not rot on the vine due to overflow.
Tomatoes in a greenhouse need mechanical pollination (using a brush to apply pollen to flowers). In addition, there they suffer from a heap of diseases that lie in wait for the culture in unnatural growing conditions - from banal phytophthora to fungal diseases. Therefore, pollination should be carried out during the day in direct sunlight and, if possible, in an open greenhouse.
Tomatoes need ventilation to grow. For ripening, tomatoes need a temperature of 18 to 23 degrees Celsius during the day and at least 20 degrees at night. During flowering, the temperature should be maximum, but not higher than 27 degrees Celsius. Therefore, when using the vents and opening the doors to the greenhouse, you need to monitor not only the humidity, but also the temperature in the room.
Drip irrigation
The best way to water tomatoes in a greenhouse is with drip systems. They provide plants with the right amount of moisture, without waterlogging the soil and air, and without adding a breeding ground for pathogenic fungi.
The drip system not only irrigates the soil with moisture, but also adds organic fertilizers and solution to the soil synthetic - if the appropriate composition was prepared in advance and introduced into the containers of the irrigation systems.
There are two ways to water tomatoes in a greenhouse:
- Automatic irrigation.
- Semi-automatic.
Choosing a specific option, the gardener needs to check the technical conditions and operating features of each of the systems. In addition, it is necessary to take into account the peculiarities of moisture for a particular tomato variety.
The drip irrigation installation itself is simple. The only problem is setting it up correctly for the benefit of a particular tomato variety.
