Dracaena transplant is most often carried out 2 times a year, but sometimes this requirement has to be violated. If the plant grows without problems, replanting is not required as it is a lot of stress. However, in some cases this procedure is necessary.

When to transplant a flower
The plant needs a transplant in the following cases:
- Dracaena has grown and the size of the pot is no longer suitable for her, the roots have reached through the drainage holes, and this is noticeable.
- The flower is more than 3 years old, but it does not grow and development is not observed. Perhaps the roots of the dracaena began to rot, moreover, you can see midges and parasites in the ground near the pot.
- The plant was purchased not long ago and the soil for transportation needs to be replaced.
Pot and soil selection
In this flower, the roots develop in depth, therefore it has few processes on the side. When choosing a new pot, a higher and narrower container should be preferred. After the flower is transplanted, there should be room at the bottom of the pot so that the roots can develop freely.
The material of the pot does not play a big role. The unpretentious dracaena grows comfortably in any container, but it looks more beautiful in a ceramic product. The only thing that needs to be taken care of are the drainage holes. They are necessary to rid the flower of excess moisture.
In the choice of soil, dracaena is also not capricious. It needs a neutral, moderately nutritious substrate, which contains peat and loosening components. If you don't want to make dracaena soil at home, you can buy a ready-made one at a flower shop.
Various components can be added to the soil, such as particles of brick or charcoal. They will be able to effectively protect the root and ground from decay processes. Brick chips will increase the looseness of the soil and absorb excess moisture. Materials such as pebbles, polystyrene, vermiculite are taken as drainage. You can use it only 1 time, otherwise it can be harmful when used again, since it absorbs harmful salts and other substances.
After the plant has been transplanted into a new container, special conditions must be created for the dragon tree. It is recommended to put the flower in a warm place for a while, where drafts and direct sunlight do not penetrate. The light in this room should be dim.
Dracaena should be watered with great care to prevent waterlogging of the soil. Until the roots have taken root in the new soil, moisture is poorly absorbed, and stagnation can occur. This will lead to acidification of the soil and the development of a putrefactive process. In addition, pests easily settle in moist soil.
