Many gardeners do not throw away plastic dishes and bottles, but use them to grow plants. Both plastic and cardboard egg cartons can also be used on the farm.

Marker for planting carrots

The large square egg transport trays are great for marking out the beds before planting seeds. Before sowing, it is important to dig up the soil twice:

  • to a depth of about 30 cm;
  • in a week - by 10-15 cm.

Form narrow beds up to 65 cm and level the soil with a rake. Place the pallet in the corner of the garden bed and press it into the ground. By gently lifting it, you will see the ready-made seed holes. Treat the entire area designated for planting carrots in this way. Sow a few seeds into each hole.

The resulting distance between the holes is optimal for growing not only carrots, but also parsley, onions or basil. You can make a mixed row by planting radishes and carrots through one. Radishes will grow earlier and once harvested, carrots will have more room to grow.

For growing early radishes

At the cells of cardboard trays, the bottom is cut off from the eggs. Having placed the trays close to each other in the garden, they are slightly pressed into the ground and watered abundantly. 1-2 radish seeds are thrown into the grooves, covered with a layer of soil about 1 cm and covered with a film. When the seedlings grow up, they are thinned out, and the film is removed.

With this method of planting, they are neat and there is no need for loosening and weeding.

Tomato protection

Due to the contact of tomato clusters with the ground, plants can be affected by fungal diseases. This can be avoided by placing egg packs under the dropped tomato brushes. If you mulch the entire surface of the beds with cardboard packages, this will not only protect the tomatoes from diseases, but also prevent the soil from drying out and overheating quickly.

Forcing container

To get green onions, take a deep baking sheet or a plastic tray of a similar size on the windowsill. Cut boxes of eggs so that they fit in a baking sheet, cut off their bottoms and put them close to the baking sheet. An onion is placed in each recess and warm water is added as needed. Soon the onions will sprout and release green feathers. Such a mini-garden is capable of producing crops for up to a month.

Strawberry mulch

It is easy to protect strawberries from premature spoilage due to contact with the soil by placing cardboard egg trays under the strawberry bushes. For large square trays, it is better to make a hole in the center, and for trays with lids, separate the top and bottom.

Creating warm beds

In spring, the soil warms up slowly, but you can grow an early harvest in insulated beds. Place an egg carton on top of the soil. Spread manure, soil and leaves on top. Drizzle with hot water, treat with EM solution and wrap with foil. After a couple of weeks, you can sow radishes, greens and cabbage for seedlings in such a bed.

Application in the garden

With cardboard containers from eggs, you can mulch the ground around berries and vegetables or cover it for the winter to warm the planting of perennials. Bird feeders are also made from egg boxes - after making holes in the corners, they fix ropes in them and hang them on a tree.
