Southern and northern regions of Russia

Planting crops depends on the region of residence, climate, air temperature, humidity and other conditions. In addition, it should be borne in mind that each crop is demanding on the soil in different ways.

In the southern regions of the country, after garlic, green manures are planted in moist soil, for example:

  • spinach;
  • coriander;
  • dill;
  • cilantro;
  • clover.

In addition to green plants, cereals also germinate well: oats, barley, etc. They sprout well during this period and tolerate hot weather very well. In addition, plants allow the earth to recover and be enriched with nutrients.

In the northern part of the country, after garlic, it is good to plant beans, peas, spinach, cilantro and green manure. Before sowing, the soil is loosened and after sowing the seeds, the bed is moistened.

What to plant after garlic:

  • You can also sow legumes, it is recommended to give preference to beans.
  • Peas. Early maturing varieties will also yield good yields.
  • After garlic, many gardeners plant beetroot, or Swiss chard, which has time to form leaves before frost. Vegetables are used fresh, added to soup, stewed or frozen for the winter. They contain a large amount of folic acid, which is involved in the processes of blood formation.
  • Root parsley. The culture manages to form a root crop before the onset of frost. The next year, in early spring, it will begin to sprout quickly and produce greens. Parsley is high in vitamins and antioxidants that support health and prolong youth.
  • Green crops. After harvesting the garlic, the soil retains minerals that can provide nutrition early maturing green crops such as: dill, parsley, watercress, rucola, cilantro, mustard and leafy vegetables.
  • Siderata. It is recommended to give preference to rapeseed, mustard or oil radish, they will feed on the remains of sulfates that are preserved in the soil.

What else can you plant after garlic

The culture moderately depletes the soil, so a fairly significant amount of nutrients remains in the garden bed: sulfate, nitrogen, phosphorus, etc. Garlic is a good precursor for crops such as potatoes, eggplants, cucumbers, zucchini, squash, etc.

After garlic and onions, it is recommended to plant cruciferous plants:

  • Cabbage. After the garlic, sulfate and other fertilizers remained in the garden, which are a wonderful start for the growth of cabbage and other cruciferous vegetables. Peking cabbage sprouts well in place of garlic (it is preferable to choose Khibiny varieties, since they form only leaves). In addition, it is perfect for making cabbage rolls.
  • You can also sow black radish, which is very useful for colds. It is recommended to plant cruciferous roots during this period (in the second half of summer), because if they are planted in spring, they will not have time to form good roots.
  • Radish. Before sowing the seeds, Fitosporin is added to the soil; then leave the site for a week, after which the radish is sown. At the end of August, it is already possible to harvest. After garlic, radish, turnip and other cruciferous crops are also planted.
  • Carrot. The culture is less demanding on soil fertility. In order for the seeds to germinate quickly, you need to prepare them. Early varieties are selected for sowing. They are placed in a small gauze bandage, which is tied in a bunch, then the seeds are immersed in hot water (+ 50 ° C). This is necessary to remove essential oils from carrots that inhibit their growth.

This procedure is done 3 times, then the seeds are dried and sown in the ground. Flat shallow beds are made on the site; to improve the yield, organic fertilizers are added to them. After planting the seeds, the area is watered.
