4 most unusual transport accidents.
4 most unusual transport accidents.

The daily life of a modern person cannot be imagined without travel by transport. And, unfortunately, none of us is immune from accidents on the road, railroad tracks or in the air. But there are such extreme cases that are striking not by the scale of damage, but by their curiosity. Here are 4 of the most unusual accidents.

1. Traffic accident on the E6 highway in Sweden

In all fairness, it would be a stretch to call this case a full-fledged road traffic accident. Indeed, despite the participation of two cars, the circumstances of their collision turned out to be quite original. This unusual situation occurred in 2015 on a section of the European route E6 in the vicinity of the Swedish town of Yeting in the Halmstad commune.

One unfortunate day, a passenger car at high speed went off the road into a ditch. However, his path did not end there: the car in the literal sense of the word flew onto the road just at the moment when a truck was passing there. The car crashed into the side of the truck and landed on the roof. Fortunately, no one was injured among the passengers of both cars.

2. Accident with Tu-154, Komi Republic

This case is a clear demonstration of the fact that no difficult circumstances can prevent a real professional from doing his job with dignity. Especially when dozens of lives depend on his actions.

On September 7, 2010, the Tu-154 aircraft of the airline "Alrosa" made a scheduled flight Udachny-Moscow. However, almost at the end of the journey, the power supply of the liner was abruptly out of order. The accident caught the crew at an altitude of 10.5 kilometers with a maximum fuel supply of thirty minutes, and attempts to start the emergency generator failed. The situation was becoming dangerous - an urgent need to find a place for landing.

And, surprisingly, it was found: the pilots noticed the half-abandoned airfield of the Izhma airport in the Komi Republic. Here luck smiled at the distressed plane for the second time - it turned out that, despite the use of the airfield has only a helipad, its chief Sergei Sotnikov maintained a working condition runway.

And not in vain: although the speed of the Tu-154 during the landing approach was much higher than the intended one and the plane nevertheless rolled out of the runway, the landing was successful, there were no casualties or injuries. For their courage and professionalism, the liner crew and the head of the helipad received awards.

An interesting fact: due to the failure of the electronics, the "lost" plane was searched for using an automatic emergency radio beacon.

3. Ship incidents during hurricanes San Calixto and Gabriella

It would seem that the element is capable of causing transport accidents only indirectly. For example, due to rain or ice, the number of accidents on the roads increases, and poor visibility in the air due to bad weather, it forces airports to suspend their work in order to avoid accidents in the sky. Here are just the following stories clearly demonstrate how the riot of the elements can lead to rather non-standard incidents, such as ships that, due to a hurricane, could end up... in the middle of the forest.

The Atlantic is home to the "hurricane season" every summer, and storm warnings are frequent during this period. And a few centuries ago, without modern precautions, the elements could have done a lot of troubles. So, in the fall of 1780, the Caribbean archipelago was subjected to the devastating power of the hurricane San Calixto. His strength and the destruction brought about were so great that he is now considered one of the most terrible. The hurricane brought with it a huge tsunami wave, which, along with colossal human casualties, caused serious material damage. In particular, the French and English fleets, which were based in the Caribbean, partially went under water, and more than a hundred ships did not run aground.

Another equally memorable hurricane was Gabriella, which hit Florida in 1899. Its power was somewhat less, however, and it brought enough destruction. One of the most unusual consequences of this hurricane was that more than fifty ships were washed ashore. And some are so far away that they were sometimes found practically in the trees. According to Novate.ru, Garbrielle's wind speed was at least 100 km / h.

4. Accident at the Montparnasse train station, Paris

This case is the best way to illustrate the expression “initiative is punishable”. After all, an attempt to make up for lost time led to an extraordinary incident. And only an accident helped to avoid numerous victims. We are talking about the accident at the Paris Montparnasse train station on October 22, 1895.

On that day, the Grenville Paris passenger train threatened to be seven minutes late in arriving at the platform, which did not sit well with the driver, Gilom-Marie Pelleri. Deciding to take the initiative, at the entrance to the capital, he threw into the furnace almost the entire supply of coal that he had. The enterprising Frenchman achieved his goal - the train arrived at Montparnasse on time.

However, for some reason he did not want to stop: at great speed the train flew along the entire station and literally fell onto the street from the platform that was above the road. It was at this time that a tram was passing by, and mass casualties were avoided only by a miracle. Only the old lady sitting in the waiting room was unlucky: she simply did not have time to run away from the rushing train "not on the way". The cause of the accident, in addition to the excessive enthusiasm of the Pelleri driver, was a brake failure.
