Ascochitosis

One of the most dangerous diseases for cucumber. The fungus infects the stems, leaves, and in the advanced stage and fruits. Grayish spots form on the leaves, when the leaf plate dries, they become brown, a plaque appears from the spores of the fungus. If you do not start treatment in time, ascochitis quickly takes over large areas.

As a prophylaxis and for the treatment of initial manifestations, use hay bacillus preparations such as Fitosporin, Alirin-B, Gamair.

The most dangerous thing is when ascochitis affects the stem. This leads to the death of the plant. In this case, a special contact drug "Roval" will help you. Apply it to the part of the stem that shows signs of disease, while capturing part of the healthy area as well.

Powdery mildew

Often, cucumbers are affected by powdery mildew, or ashes. It manifests itself as a grayish-whitish bloom on the leaf plate on both sides. The causative fungus quickly spreads throughout the bush and spreads to other plants. With a strong defeat, the stem dries up. Plants with weakened immunity get sick more often.

As a prophylaxis and when the first foci of the disease appear, treat the cucumbers with mullein infusion with urea (a liter of manure and a spoonful of urea for 10 liters of water). Stir, let it brew throughout the day. After that, strain and spray the plants. Also use hay bacillus preparations.

If the disease progresses, it remains to resort to "heavy artillery". The Swiss fungicide Topaz is very effective. However, please note that after processing, the fruit cannot be harvested for 7 days.

Anthracnose

This disease is popularly called "copperhead". It starts with small yellowish spots that gradually take on a depressed shape. Then they increase in size and become copper-brown. On fruits and stems, depressed brown sores are also formed. Zelentsy become bitter.

For the treatment of any fungal infections, copper-containing preparations are effective: Bordeaux liquid, HOM, Abiga-Peak. Note that when using these fungicides it is important to observe the waiting period before eating the fruit.

Root rot

Affects the stem at the base of the cucumber. It becomes dark brown and thinner, the plant dies. The disease is also called black leg. Appears at low temperatures and high soil moisture. Seedlings or small plants die.

If the lash is already high and the disease is not very advanced, then you can try to save the cucumber. To do this, disinfect the ground with Bordeaux liquid, treat with "Trichodermin" or "Glyocladin". After a day, make a loop out of the stem and dig in the trunk. The scourge will give roots and start feeding from them. Once the plant is rooted, prune it and remove the part affected by the root rot along with the clod.

Prevention and alternative methods of treatment

In order to avoid the need to treat cucumbers, you can use preventive spraying every 7-10 days using the following solutions:

  • 30 drops of iodine per liter of milk;
  • 1 liter of whey per 10 liters of water;
  • 50 grams of garlic per 10 liters of water;
