How to make delicious mashed peas

  • First of all, peas are thoroughly washed in water (it needs to be drained several times to get rid of dust or debris).
  • After that, it must be filled with water so that it is much higher than the peas (it will swell and there should be enough water). The peas are soaked for at least 6 hours, it is better to pour it in the evening and leave it overnight.
  • In the morning (or after 6-8 hours), you need to drain the water in which the peas were infused, and rinse it again several times.
  • Then put the peas in a cooking bowl, add salt and cover with water. Now you can put the container on fire. In the same way, peas are prepared for cooking in a multicooker.
  • The cooking time depends on which peas are used for this: whole or crushed.
  • On average, peas are cooked for about 1-1.5 hours until the liquid evaporates. In a multicooker, it is well prepared for mashed potatoes on the "Cereals, rice" mode in 1.5 hours;
  • During cooking, it is worth watching the peas and removing the foam in time with a slotted spoon.
  • After that, you can add a little baking soda (1 tsp. l. or less) in order to boil the peas better.
  • During boiling, the peas become soft and crumbly.

The peas are now ready to be mashed. It needs to be chopped and seasoned to taste. Sometimes, along with peas, sautéed onions and carrots are added to the blender (this is optional). You can season the puree with garlic, ginger, turmeric, cilantro, or cumin. Some housewives add a little butter: butter or vegetable. Pea puree also goes well with fresh chopped herbs: parsley, dill, basil.
