Domestic wrench and screwdriver craftsmen now and then create something interesting. So, among the "automotive intelligentsia" the name of the designer Gennady Khainov is well known. Back in the 1980s, he created Laura, managed to take part in the development of Okhta and Proto cars, and later founded the Dragon motor company. And our hero has created a homemade SUV "Uranus".
Until recently, very few people knew about the project "Uranus" by Gennady. At the same time, getting to know the car better, it becomes clear that it is almost the only car really worthy of the attention of a wide range of people. The only trouble is that our hero created an SUV for personal use, and therefore does not really like to talk about its characteristics and technical features. Nevertheless, something is known about the car.
The first thing that can be seen without any explanation is that the Uranus is really a huge car. It is quite obvious that a homemade SUV is larger than a Toyota Land Cruiser. Moreover, the car, if not larger, then in any case approaches the dimensions of the Hummer H1. This can be easily judged from the photograph of the master who stands next to his creation.
It is reliably known that the "Ural" is set in motion by the power unit from the BRDM. Moreover, from this car, the car also got the chassis. This is absolutely clear without any explanation. The machine is too wide. It is difficult to come up with another "donor" with such dimensions. With all this, the body of the car has quite elegant proportions. The long bonnet and lowered roof look really good. The SUV is somewhat reminiscent of the Chrysler 300C Wagon.
According to the creator himself, the only problem with Ural is that the car is too heavy. This makes dashing off-road jogging a risky business. Fortunately, the car has its own electric winch, which will become a faithful savior in a really difficult situation.

It remains only to look into the salon. Once inside, it becomes quite obvious that in fact Gennady made a car for every day, and not for trips to nature. The fact is that the car's trim is really luxurious: beige genuine leather and wood. The dashboard and steering wheel were borrowed from the Volga GAZ-3110.
