Not everyone has heard of the fact that submariners eat, including alcohol-based bread. Is this some kind of general rule or an exclusively private initiative? How is the use of an alcohol-containing product combined with military service? And most importantly, why bother with alcohol at all. Let's figure it out in order.
Submariners, like many other "non-standard" specialties with an increased and, moreover, extremely specific load on the body, need the same special, enhanced diet. Full of energy and vitamins, the body is not so strongly susceptible to all kinds of negative influences, and most importantly, it allows you to work for a long time in a tense and stressful situation.
Bread is an essential element of the human diet. You simply cannot do without it. Unfortunately (which is quite obvious), it is impossible to bake fresh bread or bring it from the base to the submarine on the voyage every day. That is why sailors, including submariners, are forced to use canned bread. There are many ways to preserve, but one of the most reliable is the use of alcohol.

Bread alcohol canned food is prepared quite simply. 2-3 hours after the fresh bread has come out of the oven and cooled down, it is immersed in 96% rectified ethyl alcohol. It remains in this state for up to 6 hours, after which the bread is packed in plastic bags or metal cans. The jar keeps bread much longer. The choice of packaging is determined by the required shelf life of the product.

Before use, the bread is extracted from the canned food, pierced with a knife in several places. A small amount of water is added to the bread, after which it is sent for evaporation in a small oven. If everything was done correctly, then such a loaf will be almost indistinguishable from the one just baked. True, if the cook was in a hurry and did not evaporate the bread, then it will have an unpleasant bitter taste.
