At what distance does the camera "see", and whether dropping the speed will save you from a fine

A couple of decades ago, no one could have imagined that all the roads would soon be literally entangled in a system of video cameras. "Total control" brought down a wave of fines on motorists, but at the same time it allows them to make driving a car quieter and safer.

Today, when video surveillance cameras are literally at every step, just like road cameras video recording of violations, many citizens have a natural question about how far they see something like this equipment. Many motorists, barely seeing the camera on the road, immediately try to slow down to "reasonable" indicators, some even slow down to 60 km / h. But does it all make any sense? In fact, it is almost impossible to answer this question.

This is because the capabilities of cameras to fix violations vary greatly depending on the specific model. Today, on the roads of Russia and most of the countries of the former USSR, mainly three models of equipment are used for observation and fixation. Among the cameras used are "Arena", "Strelka" and "KRIS".

The Strelka complexes are currently recognized as the most advanced. There is semi-official evidence that Strelki is a civilian version of some kind of military equipment, and therefore has really outstanding characteristics. Whether this is really so, one can only guess, but the arrow "catches" machines at a distance of up to a kilometer, and most importantly, it can simultaneously scan several targets. However, Strelka recognizes license plates only at a distance of 50 meters.

The Arena portable complex and the KRIS camera have much less impressive characteristics, they "drive" only one car each and grab the license plate at a distance of the same 50 meters. Thus, it does not matter at all how far the camera sees - what really matters is how far away it can detect a violation. Does speed drop make sense? In most cases, no, since having registered an excess of speed, the camera will “drive” the same car.

Don't try to fool the cameras. Much better (for everyone) and easier - to comply with the established speed limit, and with it all other traffic rules. Following these two simple points will provide guaranteed protection against fines.
