At what speed of the car the fuel consumption will be minimal

Quite a few copies were broken in the debate about at what speed of the car the fuel consumption will be optimal. It is even more difficult to determine at what speed a car will keep fuel consumption to a minimum. The most witty will probably joke that the really "minimum" fuel consumption will be only at a speed of 0 km / h. In reality, cars at different speeds will have different consumption. This is primarily due to the fact that they all use different engines.

Fuel consumption of a car is not the last question that interests many domestic drivers when choosing a brand new "swallow" for themselves. The amount of fuel consumed can vary greatly depending on the specific type of vehicle and the engine used in it. In addition, the technical condition of the car and, of course, the driving style that the driver chooses greatly affects the consumption. First of all, the speed limit affects.

All the salt lies in the fact that fuel consumption increases significantly for any car during braking and acceleration. That is why, while driving on the highway, cars (as a rule) consume an order of magnitude less fuel than when driving around the city. Fuel consumption increases even more if a lower gear was set on the gearbox during braking or acceleration. In this way, minimum flow will be at minimum throttle with as high gear as possible.

It is important to understand that, first of all, fuel consumption depends on the engine speed. Least of all gasoline (or diesel fuel) will be spent at low revs in the already mentioned high gear. And here a lot depends on the characteristics of the engine. For example, for a gasoline unit with 300 horsepower output, the "optimal" speed for minimum fuel consumption can range from 100-150 km / h. Needless to say, it is virtually impossible to maintain such a speed limit.

At the same time, for most budget cars with not very strong units, the optimal speed in terms of fuel consumption will be 60-80 km / h. This is not much for driving on the highway, but it is still difficult to maintain such a speed in the city. The best thing to do in a populated area is to try to avoid sections of the path where the flow speed drops to 20 km / h (and below).
