The capacity of a standard assault rifle magazine in almost every country in the world is 30 rounds. Knowing this, sometimes I want to ask why law enforcement officers do not use more capacious containers for ammunition and why such a store has become widespread throughout the world.
There is a huge variety of stores for automatic small arms. There are elements of ammunition for 20, 40, 25, 45, 60, 95, 100 and more ammunition. In fact, the capacity of a rifle, shotgun or machine gun magazine is most often limited by the imagination of designers and the task for which it will have to be used. However, "informal" shops are rarely used in real combat situations. Even in special units, they are not frequent guests.
The reasons for choosing a 30-cartridge magazine for a rifle are extremely simple. One of the main ones is of course the mass of weapons and ammunition. For example, an AK-74M with a loaded magazine weighs 3.9 kg, which is not as little as it might seem at first glance. Even for a person who is well developed physically. When you have to spend long hours and days with weapons, every 100 grams of mass begins to affect.
The second important reason is the size of the weapon. "Non-standard" stores (as a rule) take up a lot of space. This causes additional difficulties when carrying on yourself, and also negatively affects the ergonomics of the weapon. With increased magazines, the reload speed is significantly reduced, and the use of weapons becomes less convenient.

Third, 30 rounds fully satisfy the efficiency-to-intensity ratio. Very often, one magazine is enough for an hour of combat, since the shooting is carried out mainly with single shots. Of course, with automatic fire, 30 rounds will be fired in a matter of seconds, but such situations in real conditions are quite rare.
