Although this year is the year of the rat, this does not mean that rodents have rapidly retrained from dangerous pests into cute animals. No owner wants such a "brownie" as a rat or a mouse. Especially when it comes to a barn, cellar or even the basement of a private house. There are many ways to deal with the beeping threat. Not all of them are really good. Today let's talk about one method that has been tested by a huge number of owners.
Like most other animals on planet Earth, all rodents (including mice and rats) sense a variety of smells much better and thinner. It is this feature of their physiology that can be used in order to rid the living, household or warehouse from pests, if not always, then at least for a sufficiently long term.
A complex approach
In the fight against any rodents, only an integrated approach will help. When an all-out war is declared on a squeaking threat, the first step is to try to locate the burrows through which mice and rats climb. Later, when the period of "active resistance" is over, it will not be superfluous to close up these very holes so that old or new rodents cannot return along the planned paths.
Of course, you can use poisons and a variety of mousetraps. Including homemade ones. The Internet is replete with all sorts of recipes for lethal and non-lethal rat traps. However, all these methods (even in combination) are not very effective, since they allow to kill or remove only individual rodents from the entire (large enough) brood.

Note: rats live on average 2-3 years. In the female, pregnancy lasts 21 days, after which she gives birth to 5 to 8 pups. If rats do not live in extreme conditions, then their population will increase at an alarming rate. Fertility of rodents decreases only with a shortage of food resources and a significant cold snap.
Chamomile, wormwood and ash
At the very beginning, we talked about smells. Now, rats don't have to be poisoned. They can be discouraged by the scent of individual items. Most of all rodents (primarily mice, to a lesser extent rats) do not like the smell of wormwood and chamomile. They also react negatively to odors from ash. If you scatter the listed things in the room in the corners, then most pests will very soon dissociate themselves from visiting this area.

Home ozonizer
Everyone knows what a home ozonizer is, right? A special device that allows you to generate ozone gas in a sufficiently large amount. These gadgets are used for disinfecting premises, as well as for fighting mold. Actually, rats and mice do not like ozone either. It is enough to leave the ozonizer for 1-2 cycles indoors. After a few hours, the rodents will leave their burrows and run away in panic. Most importantly, the rodents should have escape routes. Otherwise, the owner is in for a shocking surprise at the moment the door is opened.
