In this article, I have collected several attractive and practical options for creating garden fences. Such fences can be used both in the greenhouse and in the open field.
1. Of metal sheets
Not the most budgetary, but quite practical option can be ready-made structures made of metal sheets. These can be found in large construction and gardening stores. Galvanized metal is not afraid of the vagaries of the weather and retains a presentable appearance for a long time. The construction is assembled in a few hours. Depending on the configuration, spacers, pegs and elastic bands covering sharp edges are supplied with the walls.
The main disadvantage of such beds is quality. Cheap options are made of thin metal, the joints have a large error, and the quality of the coating leaves much to be desired.
2. From rounded logs
From scraps of small diameter rounded logs, you will get durable and very attractive garden fences. In order for the wood to serve for more than a dozen years, it must be thoroughly impregnated with a solution from decay and harmful insects. The strength of such fences is not inferior to metal counterparts, but in everyday life they are much more practical. You can always lean on low posts, sit down or put a bucket of vegetable waste.
The main disadvantage of such fences is the complexity of the installation. In order for the logs to fit snugly together, grooves must be cut in them. It is very problematic to do it manually. Often such fences are bought ready-made in the production of log cabins and baths. As a result, the creation of such beds is not very cheap for the owner.
3. Flat slate
From sheets of flat slate, you can make neat fences for beds both in the open field and in the greenhouse. This material is strong enough to withstand the pressure of compacted, damp earth. The main disadvantage of such fences is their high cost and impact intolerance. From the fall of the garden tool, potholes will remain on the slate, and in rare cases the leaf may split in half.
Advantages include austere appearance and simple assembly. The installation of the fence will take no more than one hour. At the beginning, metal supports are driven in along the entire perimeter of the future bed. They should be placed in pairs to squeeze the sheet on both sides. Next, sheets are placed between the supports, after which the bed is filled with fertile soil. The number of internal supports may be less, since the ground will expand the fence from the inside.
4. From bars and boards
From the most ordinary boards and scraps of timber, you can make quite decent beds. In addition to a neat appearance, such fences will cost several times cheaper than ready-made structures. You will have to spend only on boards, a few bars and impregnation from decay. The latter cannot be replaced with conventional water-based paint. In order for the wood to last a long time, a separate special compound will be required. You can buy it at any hardware store.
The design of the fence is as simple as possible. It will take no more than one hour to create one garden bed, excluding wood impregnation. First you need to decide on the size, and then cut the boards of the required length. Further, pegs must be made from the bars. The length of each should be twice the height of the fence. The pegs are driven into the ground along the perimeter of the bed according to the rope guide. The last step is to secure the boards to the supports with self-tapping screws.
5. From polymer sand tiles
A fence for the beds can be made of polymer sand tiles. Such fences look very impressive, fully fulfill their function and are not at all afraid of the vagaries of the weather. The cost of new shingles is quite high, so buying a substandard one is the best option. To hide defects, elements with chipped corners are buried in the ground with the damaged side down. It turns out beautifully and expensive.
The elements of the tile are easily joined to each other, forming a full-fledged fence without holes and cracks. The main disadvantage is fragility.
