Despite its unpretentiousness, strawberries of any kind need regular feeding. Fertilizing is especially important for large species. If, during fruiting, strawberries do not receive enough nutrients, the berries will begin to shrink and lose their taste.

There are many different feedings, but I want to talk about one of the most effective. It's about a yeast-based fertilizer.

Why strawberries need yeast

Yeast contains many substances and microelements useful for plants. Among them are nitrogen, potassium, phosphoric acid and B vitamins. The presence of cytokinin and auxin is also important. The first belongs to the class of hormones of the 6-aminopurine series, which stimulates cell division. The second positively affects the development of fruits and shoots, apical dominance, phototropic growth and root geotropism.

Yeast-based dressings saturate strawberries with copper, phosphorus, calcium, zinc and iron. Due to their influence on the growth and development of crops, they are often compared to EO preparations.

Yeast based top dressing recipes

Yeast-based supplements became so popular that gardeners began experimenting to find the perfect formulation. This led to the emergence of dozens, perhaps hundreds, of different recipes. It is impossible to describe all of them, so I will only talk about the most popular ones.

Recipe 1. Raw yeast

Add 100 grams of raw yeast to a ten-liter bucket of warm water and mix well. The resulting solution must be left to infuse for a day. 500 ml of liquid fertilizer is applied under each bush.

Recipe 2. Dry yeast

In 1/2 liter of warm water, it is necessary to dilute 5 grams of dry yeast, add 20 grams of granulated sugar and mix well. After 3 hours, the resulting solution should be diluted in two ten-liter buckets of water. Under each bush, 700 ml of liquid fertilizer is applied.

Recipe 3. Dry yeast

In 1/2 ten-liter bucket of warm water, you must dilute 1 tbsp. a spoonful of dry yeast, 2 grams of ascorbic acid and 50 grams of granulated sugar. The resulting solution must be left to infuse for a day. Before use, the concentrate is diluted in 10 liters of warm water and 700 ml is added under each bush.

What result to expect

After yeast feeding, strawberries become larger and juicier. The general condition of the culture is improving. Lethargy disappears. The bushes acquire a healthy appearance.
