The first week of August has now passed. The heat of the day gradually changed to a comfortable temperature for the plants, and the nights became cooler. This is a great time for gardeners to start planting early maturing crops.

The first thing you need to pay attention to is greens and spicy-flavor crops. These include watercress, coriander, basil and dill. In favorable conditions, they grow quickly and form a useful green mass. The latter can be harvested several times during the remaining season. The same category includes peas and onions grown for greens.

Then you should pay attention to the early maturing varieties of beets and carrots. Crops will not be able to give a large harvest, however, small root crops will delight the taste of juicy young vegetables.

Closer to the middle of August, it is worth sowing an early maturing black radish. She will have time to ripen and give a full harvest. Together with it, you can plant radishes, daikon and Chinese cabbage.

Before planting, it is necessary to remove all green waste, remnants of root systems and other debris from the beds. Empty land should be weeded out of the emerging weeds and watered well. It is possible to introduce small concentrations of EO preparations.

Varieties and hybrids

For sowing in August, you should choose early maturing varieties that are not afraid of cold nights.

Among the beets we can mention "Slavyanka", "Red ball" and "Mulatto". The varieties Rex, Chanson, Artek, and Amsterdam are best suited for carrots. From the whole variety of salads it is worth choosing "Ballet", "Yana" and "Ruby". When sowing radishes, pay attention to the varieties "Icicle", "French breakfast" and hybrid "Torero F1". Peas should be chosen among the varieties "Alpha", "Vega" and "Kubanets-1126".

In addition to the main crops, empty beds can be sown with green manures such as mustard, peas or phacelia.
