Recently, I have been installing and changing a huge number of water meters. According to my observations, many oblique filters do not perform their functions in front of the water meters, and in some cases they are harmful. Below in the photo is a vivid example of a coarse filter that brought material costs to the owner of the apartment.
The request was for the replacement of the hot water meter. Having removed it, rusty wires fell into my hand, which also ended up in the counter. They stalled him, the water meter is broken, they called me to change. The hostess offered to rinse the water meter and start it again. But she refused, arguing that the new meter was bought, I will not go to take it.
I decided to unscrew the oblique filter cover and see if there is a mesh in it. Having performed this action, I did not find the mesh there. It rusted and partially dissolved, and what was left rested against the counter, jamming it.
Quite often, for some reason, during the initial installation of meters, I do not put a filter in front of them. And what do you think? They have been working for years! And this is due to the fact that in front of the entrance to the water meter has its own mesh divider. Which does not let through large debris that can block the water meter. Like in this photo
In this case, there was no filter in front of the counters, and this "miracle" was stopped by a mesh divider. Who cares about her I told earlier- link.
There are a lot of such cases with stuck counters due to filters in my practice, so the filter canand do not put. But manufacturers recommend their installation, or the meter flies out of warranty. The choice is yours.
