There are several rules on how to plant a hydrangea correctly so that its abundant flowering continues from spring to early autumn.
Seat selection
The plant is planted in open ground in late spring. Saplings with a well-developed root system - in the fall.
Hydrangea prefers diffused partial shade. The soil is fertile and moist. Since the plant has a superficial root system, the flower bed is located at some distance from trees and shrubs.
Before planting, dig holes 50 cm deep and 45 cm in diameter. They add to it:
- peat;
- humus;
- a small amount of sand.
Moisture-loving shrub. After planting, the trunk circle is mulched with coniferous needles or peat.
Preparation of seedlings
In order to grow a healthy plant from a hydrangea that will bloom profusely and for a long time, it must be properly planted.
Particular attention is paid to the preparation of cuttings:
- Choose a healthy mother bush (no signs of disease).
- Shoots are cut off those that have not yet become stiff. They are distinguished by their green color. They are accepted faster.
A young branch 10 cm long is cut with a sharp instrument over the leaf node. Make sure that at least 3 buds remain on the shoot.
Next, remove all the leaves, leaving a maximum of 2 pieces at the top. Such a procedure is necessary for the plant to use all its strength for rooting.
Then an oblique cut is made from below. The stalk is treated with Kornevin, dusting no more than 1 cm. The drug accelerates the development of the root system.
Planting cuttings
Hydrangeas prefer loose soil with medium acidity. In order for the cuttings to successfully take, they are planted in special pots with a height and diameter of no more than 12 cm. Ready-made soil is purchased in a store or prepared by yourself:
- peat - 2 parts;
- river sand - 1 part;
- garden land - 2 parts.
After planting, the containers are placed in a shaded place. Observe regular watering. They take soft, settled water.
Plants are planted in open ground next spring.
For the winter, the pots are removed in a cool, dark place or added to the garden and covered with fallen leaves so that the root system does not freeze at low temperatures. After the plant has shed all the leaves, watering is stopped.
Planting cuttings in open ground
Transplant in the spring. As soon as the first signs of growth appear on the seedlings, watering is restored.
Then the hydrangea is planted in a permanent place. Before planting, add 1 tablespoon of mineral dressings to each hole (ammophos, superphosphate, potassium salt and others).
The transplant is carried out together with a lump of earth. For this, the plant is spilled with water 14 days before the start of the procedure.
Care after landing
In order for the hydrangea to successfully take up and bloom profusely, it needs care. First of all, it consists in regular watering. The plant loves moisture, drying out of the soil is unacceptable.
The shrub requires regular feeding. A lot of nutrients are needed for abundant flowering. Mineral compositions are applied twice a month.
For 1 m 2 use:
- urea - 2 tbsp. l .;
- superphosphate - 2 tbsp. l .;
- potassium sulfate - 1.5 tbsp. l.
The specified amount is evenly distributed under the bush, lightly sprinkled with earth and spilled.
Organics are taken once a month:
- humus - 2 buckets;
- mature compost - 2 buckets.
One type of fertilizer is evenly spread under each plant.
In order for the hydrangea to winter successfully, it is covered with fallen leaves or spruce branches.
It is not difficult to grow a gorgeous bush from a cutting. Subject to all the rules of reproduction and subsequent care, the hydrangea will bloom profusely and for a long time.
