Good afternoon, my reader. For all the unpretentiousness of the plant, raspberry bushes still require some care. It is needed already because what kind of harvest your raspberry tree will bring depends on it. The correct content of homemade raspberries allows you to pick more berries, which will be large and juicy. But in addition to such methods of care as fertilization, feeding, treatment from pests, raspberries also need to be cut. This is done to form the correct bushes, removing excess, as well as rid the plant of diseased branches.

For work, first of all, you need to stock up on gloves, because the raspberry stems are abundantly strewn with thorns, as well as with a sharp pruner to get an even cut of the stem.
Spring preparation
tovka
The end of March and April are considered the best times to prune raspberries. At this time, it is already clear which sprouts did not survive the frost, and which ones broke. Both are cut out completely. Those shoots that have survived are pruned to the first young bud. All new shoots are processed in such a way that they are left no more than 8 pieces per bush, and with trench planting up to 15 stems per 1 meter of a row.
To create immediately the structure of the bush, it is recommended to cut the stems in such a way that some of them are cut by 25 centimeters from the top, others by half, still others remain at a height of about 15 centimeters from land. This is done so that the ripening time of the berries is extended over the entire time period for the ripening of berries. Also during this period, the soil around the bushes is loosened and fertilized, because feeding raspberries in the spring will be the key to a good harvest.
Summer shrub pruning
When the berries are harvested, it is recommended to cut all the old stems to the base so that the bushes do not grow too much, and in late autumn you do not have to remove foliage and dry branches. New shoots at this time will receive more sun and nutrients from the soil. This pruning is best done twice a month. Young shoots grow quickly, and until the root system is formed, the extra ones can be removed without problems. In addition to pruning, feeding the root system of the bushes is also carried out twice a season: in early June and during the period when raspberries are actively blooming. At this time, it is quite appropriate to use phosphorus and potash fertilizers.
Autumn pruning stage and preparation for winter
There are raspberry varieties that produce berries until late autumn. Once the harvest is fully harvested, the bushes begin to prepare for winter. Only strong and healthy plants are left. The rest are all cut almost at the root. All foliage is removed from the remaining branches.
The bushes are dug in around the perimeter so that the soil is loose and absorbs moisture and fertilizing well. The raspberries are thinned out, leaving an interval of about 70 centimeters between the bushes. It is during this period that the bush is treated against pests and diseases, and fertilizers of all varieties that are necessary for the growth of raspberry bushes are introduced into the soil.
During this period, you can engage in plant propagation. Some of the young and strong shoots are carefully dug up and planted separately.
Next, the raspberry is prepared for winter and frost protection. To do this, the bushes are tied in bunches and bent to the ground, overlapping with each other. In a similar way, the associated bushes are at the level of 30-40 centimeters and are additionally covered with special material.
