Violets are so popular among flower growers that collectors of these miniature flowers began to appear all over the world. And this is not surprising. Despite the many varieties, it is quite easy to care for violets. Once you have mastered the basic principles, you can enjoy lush bloom for up to nine months a year.

However, there are situations when violets flatly refuse to bloom. In this case, you should pay attention to the appearance of the plant. If it is healthy, the growing conditions should be checked. For this, I made a small memo.

1. Check the lighting

One of the basic principles of competent violet care is proper lighting. Daylight hours for these flowers should last at least 10 hours. The rays should be bright, but diffuse. In summer, such conditions can be created by a window on the sunny side, and in winter it is advisable to purchase a lamp for additional lighting. With her, flowering will last longer and will be much more magnificent.

2. Check substrate moisture

Violets require moderate moisture to avoid overdrying the soil. Plants should be watered with warm, settled water from a small watering can or syringe. Drops should not fall on leaves and flowers. The excess moisture that appears in the pan is removed immediately after watering.

3. Check the temperature setting

To please with a really long and lush flowering, violets must grow at a comfortable temperature for them from 18 to 24 ° C. It is not difficult to create such conditions in an ordinary apartment. The main thing is not to be lazy and remove flowers from the windowsill during airing. Otherwise, they may suffer from a draft. It is also not recommended to keep violets directly above radiators. Appliances dry out stale air very much.

4. Check the substrate

Due to their delicate root system, violets are extremely sensitive to the composition of the substrate in which they grow. Therefore, it is best to use specialized soil for planting them, which can be purchased at any gardening store. Mix the substrate yourself only if you are sure of the proportions and quality of the components.
