Since we live in the northern region of our vast homeland, the issue of heating our homes in winter is very acute for us. Maybe if we lived in an apartment, we would have treated it easier, but it is not an easy task to warm up a private house in severe frosts well.
By way of example, I would like to show you how much the heating of a house by various methods that are popular in Russia is poured into.
How much does a gigajoule of heat cost?
To convert the energy of heat carriers into a monetary equivalent, it is necessary to divide the cost of one kilogram of firewood, coal or a cube of gas by the heat that they release during combustion. Calculating the cost of electricity is much easier: we divide the cost of a kilowatt-hour by 0.0036 GJ.
For clarity of the results, I used averaged values. As a result, we got the following sign:
You can see that the price of different heating options varies significantly. Now we need to calculate the heat loss. For example, take a modest house 6 by 6, 2 floors high, built of foam blocks. Heating such a structure will require 20 GJ of heat every month. This is based on the assumption that the average temperature outside will be -10 degrees, and we will need to warm up the dwelling up to +20 degrees.
I propose to dwell on each heating option in more detail.
Heating with wood is economically profitable, but physically difficult
First of all, let's talk about firewood. To heat a house in this way, you need to invest a lot of effort and energy. This is not a small bathhouse for you to warm up, this is the daily throwing of a full furnace of firewood.
For lovers of everything natural and natural, this option can be called optimal. True, if you do not chop wood with your own hands, but buy ready-made ones, then they will not be much better than coal.
What is natural gas good for, and for whom it is not suitable
Natural gas has the most "fans" because it is not too expensive and quite convenient. There is no need to chop wood, start kindling: just turn on the gas boiler, and soon the house will be filled with warmth.
However, there are certain disadvantages to this type of heating:
- 1. The house must be supplied with a central gas supply.
- 2. The cost of connecting to gas supply cannot be called democratic.
Sometimes you pay almost the full cost of housing for connecting to a gas pipe. Yes, Russia is a harsh country!
Who burns with coal and how much does it cost?
Moving on to coal, which is a good option when there is no gas pipe near the house. Coal is highly energy-intensive, and therefore it can be used to heat the stove only once a day.
Unfortunately, the coal is very dirty, it stains everything around. To store it, you need to equip a special room with a separate entrance from the street.
Electric home heating is one of the most expensive options.
Electric radiators are an environmentally friendly option for heating your home. True, such a pleasure is very, very expensive. In order not to be loud, I will give specific figures: the price of 1 GJ of coal is 202 rubles, and 1 GJ of electricity is 1537 rubles.
In winter, you will have to spend a lot of money for heating every month. Heating a house with an area of about 100 square meters will cost about 18-20 thousand rubles.
If we are talking about remote villages, then the electrical networks in them are worn out, and the available power does not exceed 7 kW. In order to heat the house with electricity in such conditions, you need a 3-phase input, a powerful transformer and a new overhead line.
What type of heating should you choose?
The easiest and most inexpensive option is to be heated with gas. True, you will have to pay for the initial connection up to half a million rubles.
It is even cheaper to heat with coal, but this option is unaesthetic and dirty.
I would not recommend electricity and firewood as a permanent solution, since the wood stove needs to be heated daily and the electricity costs are very high.
