The locomotive was developed by engineers and scientists at Southwest Jiaotong University under the patronage of Southwest Jiaotong University, China Railway Group Limited and CRRC Corporation Limited. The cost of the unique project is $ 9.3 million.
The work of the train is based on the generally well-known technology of the magnetoplane - the train on the magnetic levitation, maglev. Such trains are controlled by the force of an electromagnetic field and literally hover over the railroad bed, which is most often represented by a single wide rail. It should be noted that the technology appeared in the middle of the 20th century, but until recently could not get really widespread use due to its imperfection and economic unprofitability.
The superfast Chinese maglev goes one step further by using the new high-temperature superconductor technology - HTS. This direction has been actively developing in China since 2003. It should also be understood that the final amount of the implementation of the new railway project is many times higher than the cost of $ 9.3 million. However, the creation of a network of maglev roads will entail the need to build new factories for the production of everything related to the production of high-temperature superconductors. Thus, the Chinese economy will receive new jobs and an additional driver for growth.

However, calculations show that even 1 thousand km / h is not the limit for the design of the newest maglev.
