Greetings, dear friends and guests of the channel!
I wanted to make an unusual decor for the garden, or rather a large ball of sand and cement. After a little thought about what materials I needed, I started to work. As it turned out, there is nothing complicated in manufacturing and no expensive materials are needed.
Here's what it took:
1. Cement;
2. Sand;
3. HB rags;
4. Cling film;
5. Large rubber ball;
6. Gloves.
The cement I had was M400, any sand will do (preferably sifted), the HB fabric absorbs water well, so I used it. The ball was bought at a children's toy store, it is inflatable, so it can be used many times.
Step 1.
I put the ball on the cup so that it does not roll and it is more convenient to work this way.
Wrapped it with cling film so as not to get dirty.
Step 2.
The rags were cut into small pieces, about 40-50 cm each, it is more convenient to work with them.
Step 3.
In a basin, he diluted cement with water (without sand) to the consistency of liquid sour cream.
Step 4.
He moistened the rags in the solution and "glued" them to the ball.
After the solution had grabbed a little, I turned the ball over and pasted it on the other side.
I left the ball to dry for 2-3 hours, as it was hot outside, that's enough. After that, I began to apply the second layer of the solution, but a little different.
Step 5.
He diluted the solution in a ratio of 2 parts of sand to 1 part of cement and smeared a ball with it.
An hour later, I applied another thin, leveling layer of the same, but more liquid solution.
Step 6.
After 24 hours, gently blew off the ball and retrieved it.
THE BALL REMAINED INTEGRAL AND UNDAMAGED!
Step 7.
I cut off the edges of the hole, smoothed them, and finished them with a little more mortar.
So big, and for one small balls I got it.
A large ball turned out to be about 70 cm in diameter and 20-25 kg in weight. The ball is very durable, easily withstood a load of 100 kg.
At the moment, these balls are more than 2 years old. In winter, we stood under the snow, nothing cracked or burst.
And recently I also decorated a large ball with mosaics.
If you are wondering how I did the mosaic, then here is article on this topic
