A two-story country house is the dream of most townspeople. Many have fulfilled their dream and have been living in such housing for a long time. However, over the years, quite certain doubts appear about the correctness of building a house with a number of storeys higher than one.

Disadvantages and disadvantages of 2-storey buildings, which you realize only with time

My friends have been living in such a 1.5 - storey building for 12 years. Visiting them, like other homeowners of the same kind, quite often, I drew some conclusions that allowed me to conclude that I will not build a house above one floor.

Causes:

  • Reason 1. a lot of space is occupied by the stairs. In fact, this area can be used with higher efficiency. For example, a good pantry or a small room can fit there;
  • Reason 2. the son of my friends, when he was little, slipped on a polished wooden step and rode on his back to the first floor, bringing his parents almost to a heart attack. It's good that everything worked out, but it could have ended much worse. The risk of injury is very real;
  • Reason 3. Heating two floors evenly is not an easy task. When the heating is on, warm air rises to the second floor and a natural sauna is obtained there. The temperature difference is quite unpleasant, and there is a risk of getting a cold;

  • Reason 4. flight of stairs - a straight road for the penetration of sound waves from the first floor to the second. The soundproofing is broken and the TV or conversation downstairs can be heard perfectly on the upper floor. This is annoying;
  • Reason 5. stair treads are usually made of wood, and wood dries up over time and begins to creak when walked on. The creak can be strong enough and you have to repair the steps or replace them;
  • Reason 6. over the years it will be difficult to climb to the second floor. Life is life;
  • Reason 7. repairing the roof of a two-story house will cost more than a one-story one.

All this in a complex gives me a clear precept - I will only build a one-story house.
